Buying an Evo
Hey guys...been a member for a while and an Evo fan for longer than that. Posting a thread and making conversation until I can post a WTB thread in the classified section.
Current car is an 08 Eclipse GT...Had a 97 DSM before that...looking for boost in an Evo now...tired of the 2 door thing.
Drove one this past Saturday and fell back in love with them and HAVE to have one.

Starting to build a preference list for my WTB thread for when I can post it...Here's whats on it so far
Looking for an 06 MR. Dunno why I want a 6 speed so badly but I do.
Prefer the red stitched suede seats.
GG or WW are my color prefs.
Less than 80k miles
Closer to stock the better. Coilovers already installed a plus.
500 miles from me is as far as I care to go to get the car.

General plans:
Wingless
I'm NC and originally from Hickory so I'll be hitting up HIS Motorsports for dyno days and tunes
Maybe a JDM rear?
Def painting the tails Evo VII style
Performance wise the goal is a strong daily driver (450ish to the wheels)

Hey man! Hope you get into the car you want. The MR in GG will be a big plus I also dig the stitched RECARO Seats...too bad i couldn't get into an 06 MR
When ever you do get into an Evo make sure you introduce it with some pics
And hey man if you can't get into an MR a GSR or RS are always still good Evos
so don't sweat it

Welcome bro! I'm not too far from ya...Columbia, SC. If you want the red stitched seats that's gonna be VERY hard to find especially in the MR. That's the MR SE model and almost impossible to find. The IX SE had the red stitched seats too and is a good choice. Has the aluminum roof but has the 5 speed trans. So it's a trade off.
But please do not touch the IX tails! Find a set of knock off VII tails online. In fact, a lot of people want the IX tails so you can get a pretty penny for them.
Good luck finding your EVO man!

Passing on the one I was looking at...too far for me to travel but def a nice car. Mostly stock with coils and 80k miles in Florida...I'm in NC hence too far. Don't want to spend 300 bucks to go down there and back on the off chance I don't buy it.
Got my eyes peeled for something closer.

Couple pieces of advice for yah:
Make sure 60k mile service has been done(Timing belt & tensioner, water pump, etc)
Make sure you know every mod on the car and get it in writing whether there are mods or not.
Don't impulse buy, people say mr se are rare, that doesn't mean you should hurry the necessary and appropriate steps!
Last but not least:
Take care of it
Best of luck finding what you're looking for!
