Carbon fiber hoods

Alright, I admit. I have no idea why a carbon fiber hood is a good thing. Especially if it looks like the stock hood. Why change? I would appreciate any info.

The hood probably weighs 200 + lbs. a carbon fiber hood would have similar structural strength as well as weigh in under 50 lbs. Lose weight is the main advantage.

Thanks. But how does it look differently? Is it only one color or can it be painted?

exactly, carbon fiber has a unique pattern to it which can't be touched by any paint job. Ferrari race cars are often carbon fiber painted red but even they would look better naked.

hoods don't weigh 200+ lbs
a quality cf hood shouldn't be much over 10lbs
cf hoods aren't structural..they also shatter on impact unlike steel or aluminum hoods
and cf is paintable.

CF Hood

CF hoods look super hot on black cars, espiacially when theres also a carbon fiber spoiler in the back.

god. i don't knw how people can think black carbon fiber hoods add to a cars appeal, especially if it's some randomly colored car.
like wierd civics and **** in town with their fugly black as night hoods that they obviously don't need cause they're still gonna run 14's
it's such a waste of money IMHO. if you're going purely for looks and you've done all the other obvious things like rims and stuff, maybe you'd want to do cf, out of lack of anything better to do... but to me, carbon fiber on a car still runnin 14+ is like addin altezas... money should go somewhere else.

would you still be able to see the carbon fibre weave even though it's painted?
