Anti Theft Idea
Hey... first post... Hard to search for this question so i figured i'd ask in the Newb section....
First Evo... had it for 9 days... Paranoid about theft...
Removed the Front ECU and the (A) Engine Relay from under the hood to prevent theft....
Does removal of Front ECU cause a reset or issues?
What is the best/ Easiest way to completely disable the car without having to drop the glove box every time and pull the ecu and walk around with it.... (danger danger)
This car has been a dream car of mine since 2003 and i finally have one =D
My Evo : 2006 Lancer Evolution 9 Mr

If she's up you might as well throw in a good word for me. Just kidding.
No, but on the real, if someone wants your car they're probably going to take it either way. You could do a quick release (not that it helps that much), but going as far as taking your ECU out is a bit excessive in my opinion.
I would just unhook the crank angle sensor if you're that worried. It'll probably take 'em awhile to figure that out, at which point you could swoop in and save the day (your car) from the white collar grown white men who will be stealing it.

OP: The number one rule is to ALWAYS layer your security, never share your security with anyone and always stay paranoid.
I came from the Honda scene originally, where theft was a huge problem. Most "good" Honda thieves carried their own ECU with them (as pointed out in several stolen car threads on Honda-Tech), so pulling the ECU wasn't safe enough or a simple solution. Not to mention, a lot of the failed thefts or ones where the owner caught them in the act, the thieves had quietly pushed the car down the street to a waiting flatbed tow truck.
No one is going to call the authorities when it looks like a simple repossession at 3AM, right?
Here's a list of some ideas for you:
Garage
Wheel boot (This is what I used to use and it has never been defeated AFAIK as of 2007)
Momentary contact fuel pump kill switch (The right way to do it, is to use a momentary contact relay and not just a switch, because eventually you'll forget to set it the night the car gets stolen)
Disconnect the connector to fuse box
Block the car in
Install a steering wheel quick release (which I've seen bypassed by a simple pair of vice-grips)

Good stuff Golgo. When I was into the VW scene and had two different Scirocco's, breaking into and stealing them was a piece of cake. At the time, I subscribed to European Car, which catered to VW's and I remember a guy in Arizona who said he kept a rattlesnake in the car when he left it. Imagine the surprised thief who opened the door only to find a coiled rattlesnake ready to strike. Bottom line is that if thieves want your car, they will get it plain and simple. All we can do is layer our protection to make it as difficult as possible to take the car.
