Just got a bone stock silver IX

I've been wanting to get an Evo ever since I first rode in one back in 2004 and this weekend I finally ended up getting one. It's a 2006 in silver with 87k miles. Only thing done to it is a small sub and an alarm, aside from that it's 100% stock as far as I can tell.

My last project was an MX3 that did 11s with regular weight reduction and all interior panels, seats and carpet still in the car. It drove to the track and I put on some QTPs when I got there and it would run high 11s anywhere from 124-126mph.

With the evo I'd like to get it into the 11s on street tires with zero weight reduction and keeping the stock turbo. I think this is a reasonable goal? Any suggestion on the best routes for this goal? I plan to start with the basics like intake, turbo back, boost controller and a good tune. This is quite an amazing car, can't believe there's finally one parked in my garage.

Oh ya, do these things come stock with turbo timers or should I start digging under the dash to find it?

Its a IX! Thats a plus, its silver thats a huge minus. Sorry is just the most bland color ever for a car besides maybe tan.

I was also looking for a white one or maybe the graphite grey color, but they aren't the easiest cars to come by so I jumped when I found a stock one. It seems silver was by far the largest production number in the IXs looking at what I've seen for sale.

I can't believe there's a stock IX left. If you have E85 available, 11s will be easy but can still be done on pump with some work and good driving.

Hey Me too.. I've been in love with it since 2003 =D I got a 06' Evo 9 MR Apex Silver 55k stock =D I'd start off with preventive maintenance .... Btw.. I don't like silver that much but.. i plan to do a full vinyl wrap

(my opinion)
1. All fluids
2. All belts
3. Replace bushings with upgraded ones... do small stuff at first..

um 11s on pump, a quick easy way? Open dp, intake, mbc 25 psi and tune on pump and with a good launch it can be close (stout motors have done like 330 some 340, 350 whp with these mods)... there is a thread on here of a guy doing it with those mods

a more civil way would be a full exhaust, mbc, intercooler and pipes, injectors and E85 tune done

Got it at a dealer so the price is a little debatable since I was chasing a payment (kid on the way so monthly expenses are a factor). They were playing with the numbers and got real generous with the interest rate to match the payment I would get at my bank buying it for $16k. They're selling price for their paperwork was $17.4k but they dropped the interest rate enough make up the difference.

At the end of the day I got it for the price I wanted to pay principal/interest considered and they met whatever sales goal they needed.

And it has room for a baby seat

I have easy access to E85 where I work, but it's 30 miles from home and about 50 miles from the track. But since it's cheaper than 93 and I'm guessing I'll need a walbro and some injectors to get in the 11s I might as well switch over.

Has the Walbro 400 caught on with the Evos yet?
