HID's On Non Projector Headlights?

So I have a GSR and don't have the projector headlight

I am so tired with these damn halogen headlights and was wondering if I could run 6k or 8k hid kits? Would they look okay and are they legal? I don't want to blind people at night though and I can't really go out and my projector headlights because I just bought the car and I'm more focused on paying that off lol

Any Advice would be great! thanks!

They look kinda silly on a non projector headlight but it's not like people still don't do it (and I have). Is it legal? Depends on your area. Here, I heard its illegal.

You will have to stick with halogens if you do not want to go out and buy the projector lamps. Your only real option is to go out and buy different halogen bulbs. The whiter the bulb, the better. You can also buy higher wattage halogen bulbs for your bulb size. Be careful when using higher wattage bulbs with the stock wiring harnesses.

Potential Problems:
1. Melting of the headlight housings.
2. Electrical fire may occur.
3. Melting of connectors.

This is all stuff I have heard through the grapevine, nothing that has happen to me personally. If I were you, I would cough up the cash and by the projector lenses. Also, you maybe able to retrofit HID projector lenses into the housings you have now. Though, that could cost just as much as buying the OEM HID housings. Something to look into for sure...

Good Luck!

What exactly are you tired of? The light ouput of the HIDs in non projector housings will probably be less than the light output of the halogens in non projector housings.

And yes I will be the first one to admit all cars look better with HIDs. I wish I had them as well

The halogen projectors are not setup for HIDs though.

I have a friend here in town that did the retrofit job on my old rsx and I'll probably just get him to do it. I only need to find a place where I can but the parts for the job and see what prices are.

well..I dont know if its illegal or legal in BC but in CA its legal. It just has to be setup so that the height of your lights isnt killing everyones eyes. I bought my evo x last november and installed HIDs that month. So far no melting or problems with it. I bought the 55watt with 6000k (close to OEM intensity ) kit at ddmtuning. Theyre pretty cheap too if you consider them.

Correct. Putting HID's in the non HID CT9A housing will result pretty similar to putting HID's into halogen housings.
