I'm Totally Out Of Place... Rotary Guy Here...

Hey Guys,

Name is Emilio, I know alot of you guys on here. I've never had an Evo, but lately I've been getting the Evo itch... I had gotten it years ago when the Evo 9 was released but I was young and insurance prices were way too high for me at the time. I've been into cars all my life, mostly "drift car" platforms, AE86s, S13s, S14s, FC3S, FD3S...too many cars... I currently own two 93 RX-7s, and a S14 with an SR20DET Swap... Its been running thru my head trading in my Nissan Titan and getting an Evo X GSR, selling some of my toys... We will see if my finances allow it and if I make up my mind... To be honest I would be leaving it mostly stock since it would be my daily and I don't want warranty problems. Registered on here to learn some more about the car and hang out with some of my Evo owning friends.

Welcome to the forum!

A EVO is the most well rounded DD there is IMO, although I do not daily mine. Speed, traction, handling, Cabin/Cargo room, 4-doors, resale value, and the POSSIBILITY of good fuel mileage :-)

Call me a sellout, but I dream of a LSX FD. I might just have to build one...

Out of curiosity, what kind of mileage do you get with your Titan?

Any FD pics?

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome...

blknblubkrdude - One of my best friends has one, it changes the dynamic of the car completely, loads of torque! But it's not cheap, and the rear end on FDs is not the strongest so you have to spend money there too. FDs are just overpriced money pits, but I love mine...

This is the second Titan I've owned. Its a 2012 with flex fuel, so I can run E85... On 87 I get around 14-15mpg on a good day just on regular commute, I'm a pretty calm driver though. On E85...probably around 11-12mpg... I love my Titan, but it gets boring driving a truck everyday, I've been extremely busy lately and haven't had much time to drive my toys and it gets depressing. The reason I got a Titan was because I used to have a 500hp FC and a Driftcar so wanted to make sure I had something to tow them with.

This is the nicer of my two FDs

On a Turbonectics T62 makes around 430hp. I just enjoy spirited driving and road courses, don't care for much of anything else. Thankfully I do my own work/engine building/tuning or I wouldn't own it... Like I said earlier they're super expensive to own.

lvp - I wouldnt mind a IX, I would actually prefer it, but I wouldnt be able to finance my negative equity like I would on a X. RX8 are lacking in so many ways and form. The Renesis is not the greatest engine out there. I a friend of mine has an RX8 with a 20b in it. Now thats an RX8 I'd drive on a daily.

I am in love with the fd rx-7! I personally love the 9 way more then the 10 and I've have had both at one point... I feel the 9 is overall better but in the end it's up to you good luck and hope to see you more on the forms !

It's street ported, I use rotary aviation classic apex seals, it makes around 430hp at 15lbs... Rotary engines can be reliable, it's all in the tuning and making sure your fuel, ignition and oil is all there. Any kind of overboosting and detonation can result in damage to the engine. If you get into just be ready to learn about them if not you'll be paying a pretty penny. Since rarely anyone works on rotaries those that do charge an arm and a leg.

Tried getting a Evo X but I'm way to upside down on my Truck and I don't have any money to put down. I guess I'll just have to hold off. I would hate to get rid of my FD, but I've been thinking about it to get an Evo 8 since they aren't that expensive.

I also have an S14 240sx with an SR20 for drifting and messing around.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Get out of here rotary boy!!!!

Nah just kidding the final rx7 fd is a dream car but, then again so is a evo.

I think a evo x is a great daily however every other evo isnt as far as im concerned. The creature comforts on the X have finally gotten up to livable. Its also a very beautiful car.
