Question IX or X For My Needs

Hey guys,
so originally I was looking into buying an Evo IX, but have been thinking about an Evo X lately as well. I was just wondering for my needs of a car to daily from school and work, a little spirited driving, and maybe track once or twice a month; what car do you think would better suite my needs?
I would especially love to hear from the people who have owned both a IX and a X.
Thanks, Lonnie.

Hello,

I had IX and X, now VII .. what can I tell You .. evo X i preferd for daily driving as You said school, work, shopping, etc and sometimes for a track, evo IX is stiff .. it's like when You drive it by street You feel like, You're on rally stage For track evo IX is cheaper, but not so comfortable as X.
X - Daily driving sometims track for fun i mean
IX - More fun when on track

Both stock

I owned an 9, it suited me good for both track and a daily. Used to drive to the track 300miles there and back, makes some passes and go home, all in one shot.

I own a IX and think it's the best car in the world but unfortunately the X only came out here now in SA and the price is R700 000 (+- $ 77 000 00).

We're getting ripped off here in SA!

I agree in saying both.

IMO the IX is a little more raw and the X is a little more luxury. Not by much but from my experiences this is what I've come to.

Okay, so with you guys saying both. I am 18 so any idea the difference in upkeep costs? I have heard the X is a little more expensive to upkeep as well as mod. Any truth to that? Also what about the X is more luxurious? Thanks for the help guys, I don't want to throw down 20k+ just to decide the other car would suite me better.

drive both and then YOU decide.

The upgrades parts etc is about even. I wouldn't worry about that.

Evo IX...it is a bit raw; I have a X, and it is more refined...more heavy, but have all the things in it to make it liveable as a daily driver, and yet stay fast and fun...the best comparison I can think of right now is, the IX is fast, fun without the creature comforts; while the X is more civilized and is a bit slower...handling is the same for both, and with mods and tune...sky's the limit for both...

So my plans either way are going to be to mod the car to maybe 350 or 400 horse, put a navi, subs, and speakers in the car. Any more thoughts?

I've got a 9 and i've drove a x for a while.

You're young so I dont even think a evo is good choice at all until you find out how much the insurance is gonna kill you. You might be looking at an insurance payment as much as your car payment.

Anyways the X is in everyway better for a praticial car.
The seats feel better
It has premium things like nav
The sound system is better with its rocksforge than the infinity system in the SSL IX
Vastly softer supension. If there is dirt on the road in the 9 you're gonna feel it. Its a very harsh drive on anything other than freshly paved interstate.

Now the 9 may not have comfort but what it does have is more fun.
It feels and drives like a sports car.
Everywhere you goes feels like a damn off road rally race.
Its more thrilling.
They're expensive but not as expensive as the X.
Insurance is cheaper than the X.

the one tiny thing i'd note in terms of practicality is that the 9 has a much bigger trunk and more rear leg room.. hey i enjoy it..

anyyway this thread should be merged

Trunk room isn't too big of a worry as I only ever put a soccer bag or school bag in the back. However the rear leg room might be nice as I will have the buddies always wanting to ride in the Evo.... Guess it comes with owning the cool car right?

Both have decent leg room but honestly. The 9 does have a vastly larger trunk. The comfort in the X is greater because of the much larger more cushy seats in the X. I even believe you can get heated leather for the X.

Leg rooms fine in either though its not like you're jamming them into the back of a DSM. I've been there :P
