4g94. yes and no, not compared to the 4g63, but with shorter con rods it could be fierce, it's tuned down to get 36 mpg but could be fierce, not as fierce as the 4g63 tho.

SOHC.... definitely not MIVEC.
36 mpg?!?!? I wish. I guess you just hit a wrong number. 26.
I've read several reports that the 4G94 responds very well to simple bolt on, and early reports suggest that it responds pretty well to forced air induction. Plus, something to take into consideration is that the Lancer is able to put the power to the ground pretty efficiently, even for a FF setup. I imagine you could put some underdrive pulleys and have it lose very very little power.

I have an RMR intake as well and was able to get 32 on a highway trip. Typical day to day commute driving I average around 28.5. That is with the occasional lapse in judgement that results in quick starts and 115mph speed runs - disclaimer only once (so far) on a fairly deserted road (fortunately slowed down in time to see the po-po in front of me.)
Good gas mileage was one of the reasons I bought the Lancer. I was getting 15 in my 4X4 F150. Damn what to do with all this saved gas money, why, buy an EVO of course.

Well, with my AC, I'm lucky to get 22 mpg. I just took a long road trip, though, and got 315 miles on one tank, and that was going 90 the whole way there, and AC on. It seems to vary, though.

been on several 400 miles plus trips, got 416 miles on my last tank on a trip in the mountains. (read lots of downhills as well as uphills) on a trip to Detroit from Denver I was getting 350-375 miles to a tank, increasing mileage as the elevation dropped.
36mpg is the sticker advertisement, i've gotten better than that though.
mods are intake, exhaust, test pipe.

As a daily driver I manage low 30s/gallon - it's really only when the highway mileage comes in that I hit upper 30s...I wonder if highway only (76-78MPH) I could get over 40mpg. Not like it matters.
My '66 C10 is single digits, and my '89 C1500 I got rid of a few months ago was only 12-16mpg...
