Evo IX next mod...FMIC or Cams?

My build list is growing and I'm stuck on the next purchase?
I've done some searching but not sure what would show more gains.
I'm assuming since I have a IX with mivec, the intercooler would be better... What is your opinion.

Or do you think there is a better substitution at this point?

The current list of mods:
Perrin Intake System
Buschur TBE
Buschur ported o2 housing
ETS Licp
Walbro 255
Zietronix ZT-2 Wideband
Grimmspeed or Pierburg BCS to be applied at tune.

All garaged now and soon to be tuned by CBRD once all together.

Cams would be GSC S2's
FMIC would be wide ETS 3.5"

Unfortunately, budget is only allowing for one or the other before the tune.

I would do a 3 port BCS , wastegate actuator and the FMIC. That way you have solid boost control when getting it tuned.

I'm sure most will say intercooler first, however it's certain you will loose spool time with a bigger than stock fmic (it happened to me, I had to go back to stock fmic) and now I am about to put some cams ( gsc s1) although some people say I will also loose spool time with the install of cams I hope you are not more confused now

Well, I take for granted that the IC is cheaper then the cams, So with budget in the thought I would go for the IC, always good to have some spares when your driving evo (things tend to brake down when you go WOT as a daily driver ), thats my experiance. IC is also DIY, takes like 1-2 hours to install.

I would say that the cam choice also depends on your future powergain plans: Buy a big IC now = No need to replace it later.
Buy some cams now = Might want to replace them later depending on future turbo, boost, fuel etc.

Forgot to mention the bcs... Was going to order a grimmspeed 3-port but Chad at CBRD was recommending the Pierburg. So that's already setup.

I won't be racing or auto x'ing it. Just fun solid Evo. Not a daily driver.
But I will upgrading the turbo eventually yes.

Then I would go for the IC, no doubt.

I'm assuming you upgraded injectors and did not post? If not, you'll need that first. And yes, upgrade boost control. If you have access to E85, I'd get tuned for that and experience significant power increase! Love the smell of corn syrup. Intercooler upgrade only a concern after 400whp (heat soak). Cams if no E85.

+1, Injectors, missed that. But still thinks IC -> Cams, since your going to upgrade your turbo later on, then u can select cams to match better with your new turbo, not with the stock one.

Oh. Just noticed you own an MR. Your tranny will be maxing out at about 350 wtq or so. Any more and you're playing with fire. That may need to be addressed once you start going from mild to moderate power mods.

You can't go wrong with which ever one you choose to be honest. At some point you will obviously want both. I went with the intercooler on my setup first, then I'm planning to do cams in the next week or so. If I was you, I would do the Intercooler. MIVEC cams are pretty good, and can make some good power. But that's just my opinion

Exactly what I was thinking.

Why don't you hold off on the tune until then? Get both, tune, dyno...

Woah now, what is this?! I've been a major lurker on the forums for over a year and never saw this. Makes sense that you don't see any high powered 6-speeds out there though.

Chad from CBRD said with the set up currently, the injectors are not needed unless I would be looking to push the boost higher than 24. The stock ones would be ok for lower 20's but indeed they are on the list with the turbo. Was thinking 1000cc's, but do not know what brand yet?

Would love to do E85, but in North-Central PA, the closest fill station is 75 miles away...
