flooring the gas pedal

do you have to floor the gas pedal to get maximum acceleration? is it bad or hard on the car to floor it?

Uhh...I would say you need to floor it to get the upmost acceleration, keep it below the redline and you should be fine. By the way, if you have a EVO, sell it before you hurt yourself. I heard those new hybrids are nice.

Please tell me this question is a joke?

The further down you push the pedal, the faster you will accelerate. So, if you push it ALL the way down (as I try to do at least once a day) you will get maximum acceleration....1.21 Gigawatts worth!

At least he posted in the Newbie forum. johnevo, flooring the gas pedal can also be referred to as Wide Open Throttle (WOT). This is when the air intake is wide open.

I think the question is interesting. It can involve lot more than just a simple WOT situation to get the kind of acceleration desired. Maybe a tuner can adjust the settings so that the best acceleration for a given situation can be achieved.

Won't you go back in time with that much power though?! Must be the color of the EVO, because my Red one only goes up to .998 Gigawatts.

Umm, no. Your air intake is never open. That would allow dirt inside the engine and defeat the purpose of the filter. WOT means the throttle body plate is all the way open, allowing the most amount of air in to the engine

I think what he means is if you stomp the gas does the car go faster..... I mean at least to me it seems like if I slowly push the pedal down as opposed to stomping it the car seems to accelerate faster. Maybe I'm just dumb too, or because I have an automatic.

And the the relative space/time shift will actually cause your red evo to "color shift" and appear blue as you aproch full acceleration
