Saveing Gas?

Now I knew that my MPG wasnt gona be the best ever once i got my evo, but 30+ bucks every 5 days is alot to a 16yr old. Well now here is where my question comes into play.

What are some driving tactics on a stock evo that i could do to keep the MPG up?
Also is there anything I could buy to raise my MPG?

Anything else on this subject would be great too. Thank You

Change to a lower viscosity oil if it is safe to do so.

I have had 270 miles on one tank, lay off the boost and coast in neutral when coming to a stop. I also take off pretty easy when the light turns green.

It would actually save you more gas if you coast to a stop in gear. While you are in neutral a small amount of gas is added to keep an idle, while in gear gas is cut off when you let off the pedal.

I generally get 26.5 mpg with my EVO with normal driving. For me, normal driving is EASY on the gas, shifting around 2800 rpm, and downshifting when accelerating to maintain between 1200 and 2800 rpm. If you turn over 3200 rpm keep a LIGHT foot. If you hear the wissssssh under the dash, it's all over.

B man couldn't have said it better . Keeping it in those low RPMs saves lots of gas, not to mention it makes the ride much smoother. And coast in nuetral; it isn't worth it to use engine breaking; that's just unecessaary wear and tear.

I wish I could get 26.5 mpg ... I'm lucky if I get 20 and I typically shift before 3000RPM

Hmmm

I hope you don't get 26.5mpg all the time. I know what it is like to get 26mpg, and it was on my very first tank of gas, granny shifting to break the car in. Might as well be driving a corolla.

That's a good question, I haven't had the chance to calculate my mileage after I installed it. I think it's gone up, but not much.
