My insurance company did this at first because they did not have a rate set for the evo. but then they changed it once there was a rate. you dont want your car to be a lancer on paper if you get in a wreck, then you will get the money for a lancer vs a evo

When I first got my Evo I had to wait for a week to get my rates, since my insurance company didn't know my car existed.
I imagine my insurance company classifies my car as just a lancer econobox, because I'm certainly not paying sports car insurance. I hope that helps.

My Cards say Evo but even when you look though all the paper work that's the policy you will find it's rated as a 4 door sedan. The only thing the up's your insurence is that it's brand new. And if they ever crash test it rate's may go down seeing how it's extreamly strong.
