Question Poor Turning Radius

I hope this is the right forum for this, but has anyone noticed what a poor turing radius the evo has. I used to be able to make a U turn in my 240 s14, in neigborhood streets, now in the EVO i have to bust the 3 point turn, and that goes for most u turns. Just wanted to know anyones feelings on this.

You can't have a small turning radius w/ wider wheels. The front wheels need to be able to clear the steering rack. The EVO's turning radius is better than the 2g DSMs, and about the same as a 1g.

Yes the evo has a worse turning radius than my GTR and the GTR is supposed to be bad... I think all FWD/AWD cars have this characteristic. The wider the tires, the worse the turning radius will become because you are actually widening the radius when you widen the tires.

The Evo has a worse turning radius than alot of trucks! Not sure why, my Subaru and my friends STi have "normal" turning circles. Oh well, just need to work on the rally style e-brake turn :-)

You apparently haven't spent much time in trucks.

All All-wheel drive cars have a poor turning raduis. Go to vehix.com and look up some other AWD you will see ours in the AWD catogory isn't the worse but still not got. It's just an AWD problem.

Yeah tell me about it ... Kinda sucks sometimes .. in my WRX it was different but the tight steering more then compensates on it when driving and weaving in and out etc ...

Red face

Looks like I am not the only one to think this, but thanks to you all now I know that 4wd cars have poor turning radius, unlike my baby s14 Silvia.

For the past 2 and a half years i drove audi S4s. That car has a rockin turning radius, but it handles like a turd, so i guess its a trade off.

I will take better handling. Thanks.

If you're worried about the turning radius, you shouldn't be driving an Evo

The thing about an Evo is that it does the important things so well that you don't even consider complaining about the cup holders, the 70's air conditioning controls, the lack of a trunk opener on the key transmitter, how noisy it is, gas mileage or the turning radius. If you have ever tried to hot rod something to approach Evo performance I would be amazed if it didn't end up with far worse issues. If these things bother you then the Evo is the wrong car. Buy a top BMW, Porsche, Audi or Mercedes. You will get a car which does all of these other things better. It won't accelerate (at least to 60), stop or turn like an Evo. To get remotely comparable performance from a new car will cost you at least double the price of the Evo. I absolutely love this car and I have owned some of these others and only liked them.

I saw the down side of the turning radius soon after I got my evo, but I really dont mind sept when im with my friends and they can turn on a dime at 5mph. I just sell them lets get going 35 and pull a hard right, lets see who can make that turn
