I had to use a chain wrench to get my original filter off.

And I put a drain valve on in place of the 17mm plug, so I don't need tools to change the oil anymore.

I check all the fluids under the hood while I'm filling the oil.

that would be nice as long as it was stiff enough that it didn't come loose when you hit a bump or go a rock flying at it etc.. that would really suck to drain your oil while driving...

It's spring-loaded, so you have to lift up on the lever, then turn it, and it is pretty stiff also. Worth the $23, IMO.

are you sure you want the drain plug hand tight, or the filter? My drain plug leaks if it's not torqued down to about 40 ft/lb

i got the free maintenence with mine, so i just let those fools deal with it. i check all the vital fluids and tire pressure about once a month. i try to check them when i wax the vehicle, but that doesnt always happen once a month. they want to change my synthetic oil, on my brand new car, and pick up the bill every 3k, hell ill let um. sounds like overkill to me. but whatever.

You got your dealer to do it every 3000 miles? I got the free maintenance too, but they'll only do it every 5000 miles. They said they are following the service manual recommendations of 5000 miles.

twinevo, are you running sunthetic? I believe the service manual calls for every 3,000 for regular oil and 5,000 for synthetic.

and that story from the SRT owner... sad, just sad. Using a screwdriver to remove the filter is ok, but running the engine to drain it through the filter threads instead of the drain plug? Crazy!

yes, mobil 1 synthetic...why would you use regular oil. I thought the manual only calls for synthetic. heck, there's a big mobil 1 synthetic logo on the engine oil cap.
