Changing your own oil

teinevo: I could swear this thread was in the Lancer section 2 days ago. You're driving an Evo, so yes they strongly suggest synthetic. For the regular Lancers, they just suggest any 5w30 oil (I use 10w30 because it's never very cold here in Cali). Someone tell me I'm not crazy and that this thread was moved to Evo forum for some reason (and whoever moved it, you did notice the thread was started by a regular Lancer owner, right?) Anyway, no matter, I just need to get more sleep.

17mm = 0.669 in.
11/16in = 0.689 in.
only 0.02in. difference between the two. Last I checked, the tolerances on common shop tools aren't that close...
Basically you are using the same sized socket with a different label. In fact, I think that's why they used 17mm in the first place, because it's a crossover size and the average grease monkey with standard tools can change the oil.

I do it all, i just like my 11/16ths, so much. It is the universal wrench, perfect for changing oil, switching rosebuds, bashing heads. it comes in handy for just about everything but cutting hair. Let's just say i like my Inches and Feet.
