Somewhat new guy

Hey guys, I have been on here for a little while, looking into getting an Evo 8 and was wanting to see what you guys thought about one that I am looking at. I used to have an 05 wrx and have been on the subaru forums for awhile as well. Any tips/things to look for in an Evo would be great too!

Hey I had an 04 WRX and switched over to an 04 Evo 8 and I'm loving it so far. That seems to be a pretty good deal for only $12k unless I'm missing something. You might want to check with the owner to see if there were ever any other mods done to it and if maybe it was reverted back to almost stock.

Do you have any pictures of your WRX?

Good luck with the switch... it should be eye-opening.

Here are some of my old wrx, I miss her . Impulsively traded it for a 300zx that was supposed to be in good running shape and it wasn't . Definitely want back in a awd car .
Also the evo I posted needs a clutch, and I will have a mechanic check the car out this time.

i just made a wrx to evo switch as well in the past couple weeks. I see it as a great upgrade but i would never buy an evo with that much milage on it. Maybe its just me, but personally i would rather own a salvage titled turbocharged car than a clean one with almost 100k miles, other than that i think it sounds like a pretty good deal

I have had issues in the past with salvage/rebuilt titles and would like to stay away from that.. Plus I have heard the evo motor is pretty strong, and I don't tend to drive my cars hard at all. The mileage does scare me a bit though, but if the 30/60/90 have been done I think it would take a bit of that away.

Yea having a mechanic look at it wouldn't be a bad idea. And there are plenty of people on here with evo's over 100k miles that are running strong.

well i dont doubt that they will be fine, I'm sure it'll survive for a while. there's one guy on here that has 146k miles, but still, thats alot of milage to trust a previous owner with. It could've been raped daily, for all you know this could be the 2nd clutch that already needs to be switched

Yeah, I am going to get the vin and see what kind of maint has been done at the dealer, as well as ask him. He says he financed it at 28k so it seems like he has had the car most of its life. If to many things have gone out/been replaced I know to stay away .
