ETS - Ridiculous Water-to-Air Intercooler + 45R for Paul's (ifarted2) 1000whp+ Beast!

For the 2008 season we've stepped up Paul's turbo and intercooler setup significantly for his attack on the horsepower record and to make 8s come even easier at the track Here's some pictures of our Tial housing GT45R turbo kit w/ Tial 60mm wastegate and insane water-to-air intercooler with which we plan for seriously low AITs I'm still blown away by the fabrication work of our shop team on the intercooler, and the collector for the water lines is simply a work of art

All of the pictures and both videos available on our site here - http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/a...icle_info.html

A few for the thread

And a couple videos showing the system in action, and me watering....errr flooding the lawn emptying the tank with the massive water pump!

Is that the water tank for the IC where the passenger seat used to be?

Nevermind I watched the videos.

That seat looks like a No BS, all buisness, hard core racing to me. Better hope you don't have the case of the Roids when sitting in that puppy.

Where is the heat exhanger for the water? Or is it just for ice water?

Justin,
For daily use a water-to-air system is not ideal as with a standard cooler and heat exchanger, the best you'll be able to do is get the water to within 20 degrees of ambient, and then charge air to within 20 degrees of the water for a 40 degree difference between ambient and charge air temperature. The only reason it's a better solution for an all our race car is that you can run ice water and get the water temp down near freezing. Getting charge air to within 20 degrees of freezing is great for a single drag pass, but that full tank of ice will be melted completely by the end of one pass so it's not really reasonable for a street driven car. Our air to ar intercoolers will get your chare air temps to within 20 degrees of ambient on their own and obviously require no maintenance whatsoever, so that's the best choice for a street car.

We'll be using straight ice water which we hope will last a full pass with the current tank size

that looks badass, but it has got to kill most of the efficiency of the radiator I'm guessing.

Flow to the radiator isn't going to be outstanding, but for one pass at a time it should suffice. We'll see how that all turns out here very shortly
