What point is that? It appears to have the same performance, just a little more room and alternative styling.
Actually I wouldn't be surprised if it had more rear downforce then the sedan with the oem wing. And possibly even a slightly stiffer chassis.

I think the soul purpose of the Evo is extreme performance for a low cost. It's definitely purposeful, seeing that the Evo has 5 seats and a decently large trunk. For those with a family and in need of a station wagon (they are popular overseas, look around you), this is a great alternative to not conform to the comfortable, sloshy, slow people mover.

I don't think very many people in the states would buy it. Think about it, the people who buy wagons want space, gas mileage, reliability, and comfort. The Evo is one rough-riding, cruise control-less, gas sucking, manual tranny only kind of car. The Suby sells cause it does the job so much better because all of these things do not apply to it. Except for the STi, but do you see a wagon version of it?

there is an entire forum called subaruforester.com. check it out. you'll be surprised to see some 450 whp foresters out there on coilovers with giant moonroofs and gold brakes. so to answer all of your questions, there are a ton of people here in the states that would probably buy an evo wagon. why? why not? the people who bought turbo foresters over sti's and then spend 5-10k modding them to sti levels and beyond speaks volumes!
even if mitsu only offered a thousand of them, I assure you they would all be sold, and you will still be left pondering the reasons over and over and over...

FRANKEN-EVO O-M-G .... IT"S ALIVE
How about an EVA-Bago
or a Long-Bed Dually King Cab Evo?
Seriously, as much as I love the Evo (and I do) some market shares are better left untapped.
The Evo is a Thoroughbred - not a work-horse or mule
(we've got subies for that )
(I really do like the old bug eye sport wagons)
