automakers are very afraid of wagons and the US models. BMW is limited wagons to AWD only and just a few models - 530 and 328 only, while europe may well get an M5 wagon... I owned a 540 wagon for awhile, which was an incredible car, but the US buyers said no with their wallets. So everyone is gunshy now. Shame..

After that the Libero replacement was the Cedia wagon...started in 2000 I think. They came out with a GDi turbo model in 4wd but also did a non turbo model (much like the Libero). Didn't come in manual though...only triptronic.
To me it looks a lot like the Evo wagon:

With only 150 punds more in weight than the sedan performance wise in most cases it sould only be a tad behind with equivalent drivers.......that weight is mainly in the rear as well so with no AYC I believe it actually helps allowing you to feel the rear end break away
Really comes down to home important looks & practicality are to you....performance is virtually the same so those who have had to go for the family wagon can have the performance to match there old sedan.

If they had offered this in the US with some side air bags I would have gotten one. Could have been a limited edition. I'm sure it already met all US emission and safety laws, since it's basically just an Evo.
