Lancer Evolution IX, SE, 9.5 Editions: Photos, News, Reviews, etc...[MERGED]

So if the turbo is a decent size bigger, hopefully since it would push more air, we could get a decent more amount of power that it would require the VIII to get with more mods, simply by turning up the boost.

t's about a more stable stance and better steering response above 90 mph, says Hiroshi Fujii, or "Dr. Evo," the leader of the 100-man Evo development team. The good doctor knows more than a few things. Around Okazaki's high-speed oval with its stomach-plunging 45-degree banks, the Evo indeed tracked securely with reliable helm control. The throttle responds more quickly, but the real fireworks still happen after the needle swings past 3000 rpm.
An old devil with one new horn is the iron-block turbocharged 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve inline four known as the 4G63. Upstairs, the intake cam now spins with an adjuster that advances or retards the cam as needed for best power. Unlike MIVEC in the Galant, Outlander, and Lancer Ralliart, the Evo's system adjusts only valve timing, not lift. The Evo IX's larger turbo-impeller housing supplies an easier pathway for exhaust gas, shrinking turbo lag by five percent, claims the quick-smiling Dr. Evo. Peak boost pressures actually drop slightly even as torque rises from 286 pound-feet at 3500 rpm to 289. Other changes: new piston oil rings to cut oil burning by 10 percent and a stouter nylon-reinforced timing belt.

The more I read about the IX the more I like it. Its even got smoked front and rear heads/tails. I bet the flashes for this bad boy will net even more horses when they figure out how to manipulate MIVEC. Plus the interior tidbits are nice.
This should be a good seller for them, considering the X is still up in the air as far as styling is concerned.

I was wondering why Ralliart hasn't been very supportative of the Evos. I would like to see a RA Evo IX..heck, I'd like to see more Ralliart Evo VIII products...something besides faux carbon pieces and little side mirrors.

By the way that lip is fat! It costs about $650.00 whenever it is available in the states.

Ralliart has always made additional 1st party "aftermarket" parts for the Evo's. Since Ralliart makes the Evo (and runs in the main as a separate company, other than the usual politiks), all Lancer Evo's are Ralliart Evo's. There even used to be a separation in the dealership system here in Japan. This changed a bit around the Evo 7 era as the main company (MMC) absorbed the Evo's in and made proper factory lines for them.
Anyways, the parts are simple enough to get. Just get somebody (like us) who can work a deal with the Ralliart distributors to buy and ship the parts over. Anybody that can afford to buy the parts can have their own "Ralliart" edition. Sort of like Subaru's Blitzen Legacies - they released special edition versions, but then also allowed customers that already had a car to buy all the parts they needed to make it into a "blitzen" version.

Ok, I didn't read thru all the earlier 10 pages, but is there a ETA for the Evo IX in the USA? I was in the market to buy an Evo8 this summer but I wanna know if I should wait a few more months until the IX hits our shores.
