That was indeed a Dynojet. It looks as if all the new USDM Evo IXs are coming out with the new black chrome lights, both front and rear and even a faux carbon fiber dash insert (or whatever it's called).

MIVEC is supposed to be seemless and basically broaden the power delivery and make it less peaky when compared with the VIII.

We really need to see a comparison dyno chart of the 8MR vs the 9MR

Some of the early production IXs have been running very lean (in stock form)according to tuners in the UK. This could improve performance.....not sure whether this is such an example ?

seems like the biggest difference is around 5k, where the torque drops off a bit more in the 8 versus in the 9. . . I don't see a pronounced difference in everyday driving around 3-4k. . . I'm sure if you're on it HARD, you'll be able to see a difference in the quarter mile, probably high 12's. . . .since 05 8's are around low 13's with a good driver. . . .

I'm waiting on the X for sure to kick some serious ****. . . .I'm very glad I saved $$$ with my 8 purchase, sounds like an Xede chip alone will make it far more powerful than the 9 stock . . . . $600 chip + invoice on an Evo 8 versus $3k + MSRP on an Evo 9. . . .u do the math. . .

So much for MIVEC..........I wonder if this is simply the result of an MMNA re-map on the IX to accomodate crappy 91 gas (negating the MIVEC effect) ?

Whatever the reason, you could argue that the torque improvements on the USDM IX have been misrepresented.........I'm assuming both dyno runs were performed on the same dyno/same day/same gas/stock cars etc.

Who ever pays more then MSRP for a car needs to take a serious lesson in car shopping.

28.5k invoice for evo 8 VS 32k evo 9. (3 .5k more for the evo 9).

-if you go with the evo 9 you will not get a car that is pretty much a year old once you drive it off the lot.
-some carbon fiber interior bits
-Mivec
-lighter wheels
- better looking front bumper (IMO)
-good looking taillights
-good looking seats & other minor interior pieces
-I also believe the evo 9 will come with blacked out headlights stock

Waiting for the evo 9 still seems like the better deal.

Just my opinion, I'm probably a bit biased and want to think I'm right since I am getting the evo IX, but I still dont' see why i should pay 3.5k less for a year old car. And the evo IX will also be made for one year as the last evo with the 4g63.

Ix Eta

Well, according to a post on www.SoCalevo.net, dealers are placing their customer orders for the IX this week, so West Coast delivery will probably be around early-mid November.

However, just spoken to my sales guy (Upstate NY) and he's not allowed to place orders at the moment. So, at a guess, East Coast deliveries could be somewhere around December/January (allowing 8-12 weeks shipping time from Japan). Not wanting to run-in a brand new engine in 20-30F temperatures and risk getting sand-blasted by rock salt, I'm probably going to wait until Spring '06 for the IX........shyt.

On the bright side, there are some nice tempting alternatives on the horizon.....maybe the wait will be worth it

They may very well be............perhaps they're being prepped to USDM spec (i.e. re-mapped for US gas etc.; I doubt this is done at the factory in Japan).

I'm sure if my local dealer was in a position to (try to) sell me a IX "MR" at MSRP, he would have jumped on it. I believe he was being very honest & upfront about delivery, so I'm guessing the East Coast won't see them for a couple of months at least.

When I put the deposit on the evo IX, the salesman said he won't know an exact ETA but his best GUESS would be late october. He said he'll let me know as soon as he gets the VIN #(he get's the VIN # about 8 weeks before the car arrives on their lot)
