Well, it depends on how you look at it. The 9.5 in my view would be just an updated 9.

I mean when the 8MR came out, it wasn't even called an evo 8. It was just the evolutionMR and that is how it was badged. There was even talk of it being the last evo based on the Lancer. Since all previous MR models (like the GTO MR) were last versions ever made, this looked like it was going to be true. Anyway, during that period, a number of publications called it the 8.5 cos there were significant changes from the 8, but it's not exactly a 9. To me a 9.5 would be something similar.

sorry, I thought you were asking why people (incl. myself) are talking about a 9.5 rather than a 9 _if_ the X doesn't come out in 2007. I think this thread is more about speculation on what would happen if the chose not to introduce in 07 for some reason.

well since I have to get out of the MarineCorps and finish college before I can get an Evo (about 2 years till graduation) it looks like I will be getiing a scooby. The X just isnt what I want out of an Evo.....

Well if there is no 2007 IX, I wonder when they will stop production of the current IX? I want to get my hands on a IX before the X comes out...yuck.

i don't think i would ever adapt to that. I'm sorry but i am not a fan of the new suby look and i think it looks better than that EVO X design. What the hell were they thinking with the paddle shifts too.

I am in the process of buying a IX I was told last week at the Philadelphia autoshow by a Mitsu rep that they X will be at dealers in may...No 9.5...not even a 07 IV

I have never read something so wrong in my life. That is absolutely not true. If that were true then i would be saying the same thing for the new skyline, but i happen to like the new look. It is a 100% choice of style. I can say with absolute certainty that the new EVO design does nothing for me. It might not bother me as much once i get use to it, but i will most likely still not like it. Please don't call me immature for the sole fact that i think the car is ugly. That in itself is a pretty ignorant remark.

i dont know why everyone is on such a hype for the X....is just because it says "X" on it? its ugly IMO.....an Evo is a japanese sports car, not a luxury car. the interior is for sport, if you all want luxury and a softer ride, then why do all of you have or want an Evo? it makes no sense....go buy an Acura RL or something.

I like the IX and i hope they push back the release of the X so i can get my IX at an affordable price.

According to the UK Mitsu site it’s not out until Mid 2007. The video display at Chicago said 2008 Lancer Evolution Concept. The earliest it will come out is summer next year. Everyone who would prefer a IX should have ample time to get one I would think. Hell call a dealer and see what you can get if you order one. They would get the full dealer holdback and it’s not like the plant is running at full capacity. I’m sure someone would order one for invoice for you.

Perhaps a smaller market like northern FL or GA, then you could always drive/fly up and roadtrip it back. 

If the X comes out and MSRP isn’t too high I’m expecting to have to do something like that to avoid price gouging.
