As someone already noted, the big plus is the availability of HIDs without the SSL package - worth a 2K premium over the IX almost by itself - then the other stuff is gravy (alum roof is nice, too).

Gimmick!!!
I personally think this is a gimmick. It's ridiculous, it's just a way for mitsu to charge most likely $40,000 for the MR SE and price a regular Evo IX at the standard MR price around $36,000. Don't be fooled, seriously. If I wanted a lip, I'd buy a much better aftermarket one. The sidesill extensions I can't even notice. The only thing that's really worth while is the GSR version with the aluminum roof. But even that's not a big deal, go buy one for 31,000 pay $600 for a lip, and get a carbon fiber roof. You'll have the better of both worlds and you'll be saving your money.

it was sent to sales in a email stating there will be a se montero and 2 variations of evo. basically when they have too many parts in stock you create a se model to get rid of them, or when a model is being fased out.....se outlander (new 2007) se montero (replaced by new oulander) se evo (dicontinued fro 2007 for new 07' lancer to launch to make way for evo x) ralliart galant (keep spark up untill new smaller upscale global galant is ready for to be revealed.

many new models on there way, this could be one. mitsu is doing everything to get back in the saddle and they will.

Someone said this is a gimick. I sure hope not. We just ordered 4 of them. I do not believe all of the details are ironed out but there will be an SE package like stated earlier. No April Fools joke. It may not be a huge difference but think about it, it makes perfect sense for Mitsu. You have a period of time when the IX and X will transition. Why not make an additional package or version that will help keep the car "fresh" until the all new X comes out.
