If it comes with all the bells and whistles, expect it to pack a much bigger pricetag. Personally, I think a JDM-like GSR spec would be well worth $40k, but I'm sure most of the general public who know nothing about the Evo's heritage wouldn't pay that much for a "souped-up eco-box"....most of them would much rather have a BMW badge.

But that's without all the fluids etc. The curb weight of the USDM VIII (GSR, if you must) is around 3280 lbs or so. I doubt the IX is gonna come in much lighter than that.

Part of the problem in the US is the crappy gas; the car needs to be tuned to run efficiently/safely on 91 octane. So, it's not a given that the real JDM output (not the advertized 276 hp or whatever) will be matched here in the US. But, given the current output of the USDM VIII, I think it's likely that the USDM IX could be pushing cloe to 300 hp/300 lb/ft torque.

I'd heard from a few people, including some folks at Mitsu Motors, that the gentleman's agreement in Japan is now officially over. Apparently it has become a joke since nobody was really sticking to it. Just the same, no matter how detuned the USDM Evo IX is, a simple ECU flash will bring you right back to JDM levels. All the hardware is there...it's just the tune I believe.

No need to get all giddy about the JDM EVO IX......We all KNOW the US market does not get all the JDM market gets so don't jump up and down until the final US IX info is released!!

Sadly No, But its the JAP Spec version,

Infact i was one of the few people to be included in the first test drive of the Evo 8
(US VERSION ) out of 22 Racing drivers two years back in thailand, but sadly not this year due to much work.

Will keep you updated, we will be working with motec for a new program. Also many new parts for the car.

Will keep you posted, also with pictures of the car,
