To beat another dead horse that's a torque compo of JDM IX versus USDM VIII....we don't know what the power output of the USDM IX is going to be; depends on how they re-map it to deal with the crappy 91 gas.

I remember reading somewhere about how the stated horsepower output is sometimes inconsistent with the true output to comply with the afformentioned "agreement". Yet with seeing some of the recent releases of Subaru hardware I'm leaning towards them not worrying about that little deal anymore.

GT has LSD as it is the nominated vehicle for GROUP-N homologation - only 2000 are being made.
It was also made in mind for drivers who want the excellent handling capability of the EVO tied in with LSD giving greater control in competition use. In addition to this, it also has some of the creature comforts of the GSR such as noise damping and the recaro seats. The GT / RS also comes with a magnesium turbo (compressor wheel) giving slightly faster spool up and slightly more torque over the MR turbo used in the EVO IX GSR. However, there is a big argument at the moment whether or not the mag turbo is within a 9.8t housing as opposed to the 10.5t housing of the MR unit.
Finally, the GT has the RS drivetrain and gearing (with exception of 3,4,5 which are slightly taller for more topend) giving a much stronger gearbox than the GSR.
Regards,
Mark

GT = Has the LSD making it a awesome track day weapon but retaining a lot of the creature comforts of the GSR (only difference being no leather recaros (full alcantara though) and the HID lamps (a 550 pounds option)). Also retains the bilstein shocks of the GSR.
RS = Hardcore trackday weapon.

Normally GSR = what we (the UK) and the US (bar a few enhancements) get.
GT/RS = need to be imported direct from japan.

Evolution IX is available with a new air dam extension and rear wing Gurney flap (dealer options) that further improve aero efficiency. These advanced aero devices improve high-speed handling and stability by reducing front and rear wheel lift and enhancing the front-rear aero balance.
