Z06fun

In Japan and UK with the mivec they are probably hitting close to 300 HP but that is due to the Fuel grades in those countries
UK = 98 Octane for Premium
Japan = 100 Octane for Premium

You have to weigh the pros and cons this way too
Here Premium gas (93 Octane) costs me around $2.20 a gallon
In the UK Premium (98) used to cost me $70 to fill a 10 gallon tank (40 litres) Basically about $6 - $7 per gallon.
You American's don't know how lucky you are to have the cheaper gas, lower taxes and so on.
Quit the gripping about the small stuff, atleast you finally got the Evo over here.

You also have to remember to that Mitsu gets more money for the Evo in the UK so they can afford to give them S-AYC and so on. I have already heard guys saying that $40,000 for a mitsubishi econo box is too much.
You also have to remember the roads are alot more narrow and twistier than over here, so the ACD and S-AYC and EBD is an added driver safety feature.
You also need to remember that the cops are alot worse over there than here for giving motorists tickets for speeding, 4 illegal tyres (tread bellow legal limit) will result in 3 points per tyre, 1 more for a defective wiper blade will result in suspension of your licence.
Speed traps are everywhere and you don't need a cop to catch you, the speed cameras do that for them. You just recieve a summons in the post to appear in court on this date, and believe me you can try and detest the speeding ticket but it won't work they have heard every excuse in the book.

So you all need to Count your lucky stars, and be thankful the Evo and STI are over here.

Apples and oranges. The UK and Japan octane numbers are Research Octane Numbers (RON). The US uses the average of Research and Motor Octane--(R+M)/2. Since R numbers are generally higher than M numbers, 98 RON works out to about 93 (R+M)/2. 100 RON is probably in the 94-95 range in the US method.

Are we sure this info is final production specs. Why does it say it requires RON98 gas and why is the boost pressure listed in kPA instead of psi. And what about the disclamer at the bottom of the spec page which says "Technical data, features, options and other equipment listed in this document are based on the latest information available at the time of release and are subject to change without notice." Maybe they're planning on dropping a horsepower bomb STi style.

No, don't hold your breath.............why would they let the US press test-drive the car in Japan in readiness to publish road-test reports if they were going to make substantial changes to the car before release. It won't happen. Conversely, there's a distinct possibility that Subaru will have a nice surprise lined up when they release the totally redesigned STi later this year or early next.

If i remember correctly, when this car was first released, you all were talking about the MIVEC being one of the greatest things to happen to the Evo. Horsepower wise, yes, Mitsubishi is a disappointment with how they handled the MIVEC and should've made the stock HP higher. But I thought that the regular ES Lancer's MIVEC gave it a slew of low-end torque.

What most of you out there want is acceleration but torque is actually what a car's major specs should be, as opposed to horsepower. As I understand it, the 4G63 has a huge amount of low end and with the MIVEC, it'll have mid-ranged torque coupled with the turbo boost. In terms of torque and horses, with this set up, wouldn't you be well ahead of the next person before achieving the engine's limit?

::disclaimer:: i mean on a road/course with corners, not a drag race.

iono just a thought.

but anyway, i'm glad i'm getting an 05. when does the 06 model year start? August rite?
