The RS may sticker under $30k but it's a very specialist type of car designed primarily for track use or weekend use or possibly as a daily-driver for the diehard "fan". I doubt MMNA sells that many of them nor is it going to contribute much to revitalizing the company financially. I think the STi stickers for nearly $33k now, so it's unrealistic to think that Mitsu would market the "GSR" for much less. I think the MR is over-priced, but not by much. With S-AYC, $36k would be reasonable.

Bottom line......if you are gonna by a new EVO you will get the 9 and it will be better than the 8. We can only hope they dont rape us on the price.

For those of you who already got bent over on the price of the 8 you might as well keep it and mod it instead of getting a 9.

I hoped for a better factory clutch, and I wished I could have a moon roof and get 6 speeds. I really liked the JDM rear but there's always EBAY.

Basically I am happy with the car because I know we can make the fricken thing rip reguardless of factory rated HP.

Who's to blame for this, us or Mitsubishi? Us in my opinion, did Mitsubishi ever guarantee us anything, did they say that the car would be rated at over 300HP, no, we are the ones that made a big deal out of nothing. Really what were we expecting (And I too am at fault for this) a competely brand new model? That is suppose to be the EVO X not the EVO IX. Mitsubishi said more power and they delivered (286HP/289TQ to 276HP/286TQ). Mitsubishi said subtle design change, and that's exactly what they did, and I still think the EVO IX looks good even with out the JDM bumber. Mitsubishi said subtle interior improvements, and this is what they did. So I don't see disappointment, unless you were expecting way to much. It's like watching a movie, the critics tell you it's going to be an ok movie, but for some reason we keep thinking it's going to be an awesome movie, and we are dissappointed, who's the blame for that? The big hype should have never been on the EVO IX, and should be on the EVO X, because that is where the major changes are to take place. Another reason why don't see dissapiontment and only see us looking into things too much, is that Mitsubishi only raised the price tag $500, which is pretty much standard thing to do these days from year to year. So even Mitsubishi knows they weren't offering us something brand new that would justify a significant price increase. The EVO IX is just a continuing upgrade of the EVO platform, in my opinion meant to draw in new buyers, not make current owners upgrade.

Besides we all know the EVO is underrated and already does make 300HP, so I think the dyno numbers is where we should look at to see changes. I'm guessing the EVO IXs dyno at around 250WHP-260WHP (dynojet).
