I know the EVO VIII and STi have always been pretty close when it came to racing, but I think it is now pretty much official, that the EVO IX stock for stock is hands down a quicker car than the 2005-2006 STi (if the STi goes unchanged into the 2006 model season).

But you right that there are other changes ... like a larger turbo compressor cover on all models.

Don't worry - I'm sure you're not as dumb as you sound!

I love posts like this. Personally, I was bouncing back and forth. I had an 03, and I kinda wanted an MR...but I kinda wanted a 9...so I went and made an offer on the last MR they had here...and poof, I got it. So, I think that the 9 will be a great car. I think tuning it will be a little behind the VIII for about...mmm...a month or two? Not far, and possibly more potential, we'll just have to wait and see (it's hard to imagine a LOT more potential as the VIII is pretty impressive in that area.) I personally don't like the bumper, but I dig the seats. I wasn't sure what the markup would REALLY be on a IX, so I figured I'd just get the MR I could...I'm hoping it's here in sept, I'll be up at the dealer looking at the seats and wondering how to get a set in without them noticing I took them.

I have an '03 VIII now and would like a IX because I like the seats and the ACD, but I do not have the cash to support it now. The VIII is raping me as it is. I will probably sit back and save my cash until the X comes out in 2007. Then I will make up my mind between that and a C6.
And btw, the C6 is selling for 51K at MSRP with a nominal markup between 5-10K here in South FL.
