As far as the changes to the Evolutions themselves, you had Evo 1-2-3 in the 1st gen chassis. Then the Evo 4-5-6 in the 2nd gen chassis. Followed by the Evo 7-8-9 in the new chassis. None of them in their respective chassis look too dramatically different from each other. Remember, its the EVOLUTION, not REVOLUTION. So yes, while not drastic, with the new engine tuning and MIVEC, should be that little bit better performer as well.

Ok, here's what I was wondering
The differences between the Evo VIII and the Evo VIII MR was that:
- Substituted the circular shaped turbo nozzle for a oval shaped nozzle, which allowed for minor hp/tq gains
- ACD
- 6 spd transmission
- Aluminum roof panel
- Bilstein shocks
- Forged one-piece BBS wheels
- MR bading
The differences between the Evo IX and the Evo IX MR are:
- 6 spd. transmission
- Aluminum roof panel
- Bilstein shocks
- BBS one-piece forged wheels
- MR badging
From what I have read I saw that both the Evo IX GSR and Evo IX MR both come with MIVEC and ACD right? Or is the ACD still a bonus to the MR series only?
If that's the case I am probably going to hold out for a GSR than a MR and put the $5K I save into Buschur Kits or Volk wheels/Tein suspension.
I had a question, only because the BBS wheels that coem factory are so damn nice, is there any way to get an Evo IX GSR with a optional package to add the BBS one-piece wheels?

ACD comes on all Evo's now, not just the MR. Either way the Evo IX is a huge improvement over my stock 03 so I will definitely be selling it for the MR this fall/winter. Why are all of you so worried about whether it's worth it or not. You do realize that if we got the AYC the Evo would be pushed into the 40k price range. If you don't think the MR is worth it, then don't buy it. Simple as that.

Aragorn,
Seeing the minimal improvements the IX MR has over the IX GSR, wouldn't you rather save some cash and go for aftermarket goodies?
How much more beneficial is that last gear? That's another question I had.

well my evo is my daily driver and I don't feel the need to go crazy modding the car. It's already plenty fast for me to have fun in. The MR comes with a lot of stuff that I would like anyways, such as the 6 speed, bilsteins, and the bbs wheels. do I think that the MR is a HUGE difference from the gsr....no. but I have enough money to buy the MR and like the extra features it has. If you are planning on getting aftermarket wheels and coilovers, then its probably not worth it, unless you must have the six speed. You're also forgetting the fact that the MR comes standard with the HID's and foglights. to get them on the GSR you have to fork over another 2k for the S&S package.

So the only things I would want on the MR is the weight saving roof and wheels.
But the 6 spd tranny is so heavy that it almost eliminates these advantages - except for the lower center of gravity.
Now with the same 5 grand saved on the GSR - I could do a better lower suspension and lighter wheels than MR if I wanted to
But it is still a close call and depends upon personal preferance and what you intend to do with the car most importantly.
I am interested to know the top speed in each gear to help me decide as well.
