Evo X impression from Auto week
After all the searching hopefully that this is not a repost.
Here is the link: http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl.../70927003/1065
After reading all the other threads about the evo x first impression on a test vehicle, it hits me that the all new evo is an awesome machine with a new character. I know that the purist will always want the rawness of the evo IX, but I guess until a test drive is done in person, we will mentally continue to battle of which evo is the greatest of all time.

Hmm from Autoweek: "Mitsubishi says the gearbox makes the car just a tad faster to 60 mph than shifting the manual. All 2008 models are about 0.2 second slower to 60 mph compared with the Evo IX".

All of the reviews I have read seem pretty consistent so far. Nothing but positive things to say about the X. I'm just a bit curious of this all new aluminum block and the stress factors it will be able to handle. Only time will tell.

"Despite all the added size, structure and systems, the new Evo MR with the six-speed TC-SST is just 100 pounds heavier (including 11 pounds of sound deadener) than the 2006 Evolution IX MR. The infinitely more tunable GSR with the five-speed manual is just 59 pounds heavier."
Where are the fools that said the X will cost 40K+ and weigh 300 lbs more.

This is the first review I've seen that puts a positive spin on the difference in steering response between the IX and X:
"Steering is lighter but retains its instant response and on-center feel, while losing some of the car’s hyper-twitchiness, vibration and shimmy."
Interesting review, thanks for the link.

And I quote Bob Gritzinger of AutoWeek magazine... "The car no longer seems mechanical and race-car-like".
That says it all for me. I am disappointed!
Maybe there is hope with the RS...

I read the same Autoweek article, and I thought is sounded like a piece of ****. There is no reason that car should have gotten heavier. I'm sure the motor will be good, but the tranny will be weak, and the car weighs too much.

you have to take into accounty all of the safety features as well as the added ridgidity that was given to the car. That combined with some new interior features added some additional weight. Everyone complained about how ugly the interior is on the evos previous, well now you got a nicer interior... another thing is, how can you say the tranny will be weak? have you tested it out? i don't think so. Hold your comments till some real feedback is given

So far all the reviews has been positive, it seems like the reviewers don't mind the car being a tad slower than the 9.
I like it! in the area i live in I can hardly go over 60 km and there are hardly any high ways =(

Man, it's ignorant comments like this (and there are a lot of them on the site) that make my left eye twitch.
