get 5MT if likely to mod and race it. mitsu also stated that the 5th gear is taller now for more relaxed high speed cruising.
as daily car, get sst.
there is a chance that sst would have problems with the first few batches of
X.

5sp MT vs. 6sp SST. I don't know if the SST is designed to handle more power than stock and it's probably big $$$ to replace or rebuild. If you want to mod the car I'd go with the 5sp MT, If you're gonna keep it close to stock power levels than get the SST. Personally I would get the 5sp MT.

I have to say I buy first gen everything. I have never once had a problem with anything ive bought.
I hear this first gen problems crap alot, but personally I dont buy it. Things break because people dont take care of them, not because its first gen.
Test drive both see which one you like. I live in New york, so If the SST doesnt feel too much like an auto in s-sport M mode, then I'll get it. If its too smooth, then I'll get the 5-spd.
Is it my headphones, or does that engine sounds loud and mean?

Ok I have to ask. I know the SST has two clutches. SO in something like the F430 with the flappy paddle gearbox, does it have a clutch aswell.
I just watched a video of the F430 Scuderia, with the flappy paddle gearbox, and if the SST shifts anything like that, I am DEFINATELY GETTING THE SST.
