for some of us driver's car = less intrusions by driving aids. a lot of people i know even pull ABS fuses in order to threshold brake.
but that's all up to the driver. some people like the car to make them into a better driver. that's a "driver's car" to them.
i guess i'm old school.

Actually, i understand were you coming from and even somewhat agree, sounds like you might be a candidate for a Lotus Exige. However given were i live and the nasty winter weather i could not think of a better all around performance sedan for the money. When some freinds asked why i am getting an EVO i replyed "because it's the most fun i have had in a street car with my clothes on" and i wasn't kidding. Sometimes a drivers car rewards the driver.

I would LOVE an exige.. But can only afford an Evo. LOL.
I have the same reason for buying my evo. Funny. I use just about the same words.
It's sexy.
It has four doors (kids).
It has a turbo (I can't drive N/A cars any more LOL)
Given your climate, and assuming you only wanna have one car, I could see how a X would be a good choice.
I'm sure it's a kick in the *** with some winter tires, in the rain!

Some packages have just been added to the Evo X on mitsubishi's website, but its still listed as a 2010???

http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMNA/jsp/evo/10/trims.do

Go through the "build and price" feature and they now list stuff like "Interior Sport" package for all trims and "Aero Kit" for the MR. It wasn't like this last time I checked, which was only a few days ago.

Oh yeah. Tell Ferrari and their new 458 that. If there's one car on the planet that should have a manual it's a Ferrari.
