Lancer Evolution VIII MR model to debut at Tokyo Motor Show
I sure hope they bring this one to the US!
* MR = Mitsubishi Racing

Lancer Evolution VIII MR uses slick-response Bilstein shocks for improved handling. The aluminum roof panel and other reductions in body weight have lowered the center of gravity to realize more natural roll characteristics. Detail improvements have also been made to Mitsubishi’s own electronic all-wheel drive, to the ACD + Super AYC traction control and to the Sports ABS systems. The Lancer Evolution VIII on display at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show takes the MR designation traditionally reserved for Mitsubishi Motors high-performance models and used first on the Galant GTO

Man, if that car comes here, there will be a boat-load of slightly-used Evos on dealer lots...
I hate when manufacturers nail the first people (the real fans) to buy the car and then drop the good stuff later (for the poseurs). Honda doesn't pull that crap - S2000 stayed the same, NSX stayed the same, etc. etc.
It is sort of like the people that bought OZ Lancers before they knew the Evo was coming...

When the Lancer came out, I was all excited too, thinking that the Evo came over to the US. But I knew well that the Evo had 260+ hp and with much more aggressive looks so no way in hell was I gonna get a wimpy Evo-impostor Lancer.

What do you base that on? Have you seen MMC's sales figures? I hate wild speculation.

the new s2000 gets higher displacement and nsx gets more hp.
