if it is true it is sad but not totally surprising. the evo price tag puts it in competition with low end bmw's, audi's etc. but mitsubishi never spent a dime marketing it. it's a very competitive space, with us mfrs betting big on it too. the evo was the cool smart talented kid stuck in a family of low-iq underperformers.
a dealer told me that the evo was the highest margin product they sold, with a margin that was several times that of the other cars in their line up (makes sense given the price tag). so with the evo gone, mitsu really needs to overhaul their product/market position. considering that cars are a tiny part of the mitsu industrial complex, i'm not sure how critical they are to corporate hq to begin with.

Rumors have started......
I don`t believe everything I read anyway....All are pure speculations....
Some say that Mitsubishi is about to create a car in 2013 (Evolution hybrid) on the same platform as the PX-MiEV plug-in hybrid crossover concept and will combine the 2.0-litre MIVEC petrol engine from the Japanese Galant with a new lithium-ion plug-in arrangement....
We will see.....

They said the VIII was the last model, the said the IX was the last model, now they are saying the X is the last model...
They are breaking you down, making you ****** up all the X's and then building you back up with the release of a XI, BRILLIANT!

It's a pretty brilliant marketing strategy if you ask me. 'Oh noes, the Evo X will be the last Evo EVAR! You better go get one before you can't anymore! .. Well, we thought about it and we're going to give you what you want, here's the new Evo XI!' ..brilliant.

I don't think Mistu needs to lie about this to sell more Evos because they are selling quite well without much marketing/rebates anyway. Mitsu is trying to be Toyota like Mazda was some time ago...and Mazda failed and went back to their sporty roots.
I was planning to get a new Evo X in a year or two but looks like I absolutely need to get one by the end of this year if I want to be sure to have a new one. Sad day indeed!
