Man.... I just bought my X in July too. Only has 3400 miles on it (zero mods). Do I now have to hold onto it for at least 30 years before it becomes a classic?

that mentality is the exact reason why they may be saying the evo is dead. with the evo name there is an expectation. an expectation that their future ev/hybrid vehicles cannot meet, thus the name change... did he say there wont be a sporty hybrid in the future? no. so we may see a ev/hybrid that is the next gen evo in spirit, but not in name...

Probably more like 40-70 years. There aren't too many 30 year old classics (although that could just be because cars in the 80's sucked).

It could. Maybe not a full-blown classic, but it'll obviously have some value and be sought after, like the Supra after they killed it off.

I don't doubt it at all.

Look at their corporate home page:

All eco, earth, EV, responsibility, etc etc etc. There's one motorsport link.. click it and you'll see it was last updated in 2009. Ralliart is gone. It's plain that there's a corporate mandate from the top to go in this direction.

And as has been pointed out, they can send a strong message to "green-minded consumers" (and media) by closing the book on one of the most conspicuous performance cars of the past twenty years.

Environmentally, it would be a token gesture (really how much pollution are Evos causing in the grand scheme of things?) but as a display of intention I guess it's pretty powerful.




Looks like Sho will be sorely disappointed.

I could tell this story is full of crap. I doubt Mitsubishi will remove the precious Emperor Evo out of the line.

Jesus i was at the dealership on Saturday thinking it was the right time to jump out of my Lancer so i could play with the big boys. Had them working out if they could find me a GG MR but the sales person was a dick so i left. I guess im going to have to swallow my pride and go back.

I haven't seen an official announcement anywhere so who knows.
