Question New EVO MR press release from MMNA

Hello everyone, i just checked out MMNA's media/ press release site a few moments ago. I noticed that the document posted a month ago "NEW CHANGES FOR 2005 EVO" has been posted again on their site. Most of it seemed the same as the previous one but i noticed the part somewhere in the middle of the document that supposed to be "new exclusive color: graphite gray w/ dark carbon spoiler" has been changed to "new exclusive color: graphite gray". Does this mean that the dark carbon spoiler would not be included anymore for the 2005 MR ?

After Mitsubishi seen our ranting they are now painting color match wings for the Grey MR to **** us off?

As of right now it looks like we are going to set up huge group buys for carbon dash, seats, and back lights to convert it back to the MR look

By the looks of this, the RS is really the one to have. Note that the RS now has the aluminum roof.
The only (subjective) advantage the MR has is the 6 speed, but otherwise for performance, it trails behind the RS.

All Models
(STANDARD) +5 hp increase / +13 lb-ft increase, due to larger diameter turbo nozzle (9.8 -- 10.5) and new waste gate shape (oval -- circle) for improved boost response

Looks like the standard Evo VIII will receive the new turbo.
It also looks like we are getting aluminum door side impact bars on all models.
I didn't know that all models will now have the front LSD and E-ACD. sounds good to me .

hmmm i wonder if the new blue will be in fact a new blue.
Can't wait till 05, till then get the beers in.

tearitup: MR also has better suspension and rims.

a built '05 RS (with coilovers, etc.) would be amazing at the track but good luck trying to resell that car.

Gee, I can't believe I bought a dummy car that they could test out in the American market so they could then decide to bring over "real" Evos. Kinda bitter guys.

Well for performance, I am sure both of those would be replaced very quickly. Sure they are good for a stock car, but they are no JIC / Volk as far as performance goes.
If you plan on leaving your car stock and never autocross or track it (seriously), they it might be a decent option.

I still have no plans for selling my '03 though. I still see nothing (except the alum roof) that is better on the '05, than what I can do with my '03.

For people that race stock class the MR is the clear choice Coilover may not perform better depending on the surface and rubber. I'm sure tuned the MR to the an outstanding performer on realistic surfaces.

True, but I won't be a bit surprised if the new '05 Evos (especially the MR and RS) are classed in SS and the '03/'04 Evos are left in AS
