Dell Axim50x connections
i just recently got a new dell axim 50x pda to play with my utec. the pda doesn't have a female usb. it has a 36 pin plug in. i have a sync wire that connects to the pda thru the 36 pin connector and then has a usb male that is left to plug in to something else. so i went to comp-usa to get a serial to usb adaptor. i got the keyspan adaptor. i also picked up some female to female adaptors in LA.
so it goes.
Utec - serial cable - Tuner - serial cable - keyspan adaptor - female to felmale adaptor - usd to 36 pin - dell pda
i have vt100 installed on the pda but nothing seems to be working. i plug the keyspan to my laptop and the power light comes on. but when i use the same adaptor to hook up the utec and pda, the light is not on. im thinking the adaptor is for usb to serial port, not the other way around.
i have been searching online for a male serial port to female usb with know luck. any input would be helpful. thanks justin

I want to know too... I have a Dell Axim X30 PocketPC and I can't think of a way to connect it to UTEC.
I have a good old HP 620LX handheld PC running CE2.1, I can connect the Terminal Service VT-100 emulation to UTEC; however, the data show on the screen has a lot of garbage and I am having a very hard time figure out what is what. I can still see the UTEC menu in between the garbage, but it's just not what I can live with.
My best bet is to use my Palm Vx->Serial Sync cable-> null modem cable -> serial cable ->UTEC. Havn't tried it yet, but it might work.
Anyway, anyone have a solution to this PDA/UTEC dilemma, please let us know.

FWIW I don't know that a USB Serial adapter will work with the USB wire off a PDA unless the PDA is capable of being a USB Host..
If your PDA has a compact flash slot, you can buy a CF Serial card.. Or use the Bluetooth - Serial adapter, that DOES work because I use bluetooth on my setup all the time.
I'm assuming you mean a USB to USB female-female adapter that goes between the keyspan adapter and the Dell cradle.. I doubt that would ever be recognized by the Dell.

They should all do the job once their set up.. You may need to talk to them directly and tell them what your using it for, since some may need a nullmodem adapter or gender changer.. HOWEVER they will work, my preference is for the socket products..
if you have a compact flash slot, socket makes a serial adapter for the CF slot and it will be alot easier to setup..
