PDA Suggestions for Tuning UTEC?
I'm looking to buy a PDA for the sole purpose of tuning my UTEC. I've seen the thread regarding the Dell X50 and the difficulties linking it up to the UTEC/Tuner. It made me wonder if anyone has had any problems with their handheld, or if they knew of one that works fairly well.
So can anyone suggest a good, fairly cheap PDA for tuning the UTEC? Is Palm OS or PocketPC OS better? I'm looking to spend about $150 to $200 tops. I was looking at the Dell X30 or the Tungsten E. Pros or cons? Any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

I'll send MJ a PM. But hopefully he can reply in this thread also to help everyone else out. He's pretty good about that.
Thanks.

Honestly, any PDA capable of having a serial port (Compact flash card, or another way of getting a serial port) and running a terminal program can be used for tuning..
But one word of warning.. I had to write special software to be able to do anything really useful. Unless you have a full keyboard, your tuning will be very frustrating using a PDA without a keyboard...
I have a PDA with a built-in keyboard, and a terminal application.. But I ended up writing data logger software (Digital Dashboard) that worked as a logger and dashboard app.. I really only use it for logging, I rarely do any tuning with the PDA, but I can do it if I needed to.. I generally keep a dedicated laptop in my car at this point...

all under $400 - and you could really make due with something like this if all you want to do is tune, it's only $250:

Thanks guys. I was really looking at the PDA route to keep a more portable tuning piece. But I may just need to spend the extra hundred and get a laptop.
I always seem to overlook Ebay deals. I was thinking Fry's for a good laptop deal, but a used one will do the job for what I need.
Thanks again.
