wiring - solder or male/female clip?

i'm about to do this tomorrow.

should I solder everything or use male and female metal clips to connect everything?

which way have you done it?

thanks. I'm just thinking it'll be easier for me to use the female and male metal clips to connect, then, it'll be easier to get it out later.

thanks.

I used the field harness so i went ahead and soldered everything, if you think you're going to disconnect in the near future i would use the clips and alot of tape to make sure the connections have enough slack for the wires to have some movement without compromising the connection, the AFC is very touchy.

yeh, i got the field harness too.

it's just that i have to install the REv meter too on the same wires.

I'm just wondering if wiring 2 components on the same wire will effect performance of the wire, since safc IS finicky.

by the way, did you heat the wire up, then did a solder without twisting the wires together?

also, did you heat the wires from the bottom, then feed the rosin up top?

thanks.

i twisted the wires together and squeezed them flat with some needlenose then heated from the bottom and top and then held the heat on the bottom and fed the rosin from the top. I'm sure you know this but make sure the wires are heated properly to accept the hot rosin and if you have a leatherman or some locking needlenose plyers to hold the wires away from the others use it. Then i covered it all up with that dandy liquid electrical tape. But i wouldn't think the rev meter would affect anything that much. It should work.

done with the install this morning.

very simple with fields harness.

now the only problem is tucking all these wires back.

silver-containing solder is best, I did it a few weeks ago - real PITA to get all those wires done - having a third or fourth arm would have helped.

yeh, it was sorta time consuming. But the Fields harness is fairely flexible.

I used the rosin type.

damn, RPM wire was all wrong, so I had to take the 88 pin out and to 58. took another 30min.

Yeah man, tucking the wires is a B!tch especially getting that little plastic cover under the glove box to go back into place without annihilating it completely. Sorry to hear about the problems but its good to see you got it up and running.
