Map Ecu Ordered!!!!
Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you guys know that my Map ecu is on the way. I see that no one else is using it so, i took it upon myself to get it. When it gets here ill install it (of course) and keep you guys updated. The reason i went with Map ecu is because i dont need a full blown standalone and there are plenty of guys out there with cars making over 900whp on supras and such. Also, itll give the evo community
another ems to work with. Looking forward to hear of any comments and questions about it and see what this thing will do.

I think the only reason you haven't seen it used on the Evo was how expensive the unit is.. It was one of the first I looked at. Its disadvantage on the Evo is the same for most other piggyback units that intercept and alter MAF readings, and that is without a reflash you can't overcome the fuel/boost cut. Its a awesome unit though.

Yea, We are going to be working that out as well. There are some other cars that map ecu runs on that we had to work around it or with it. Wish us the best and soon we'll have a new option for the community.

well wednesday or thursday is the big day. ill recieve it then. it may be a little more expensive some other but i think the product is well worth. most people dont even go over
25 psi on there car so i dont really see a problem with the fuel cut. like i said before well work all that out.
ill keep you guys updated.

well I just recieved my Map Ecu today. I have to Start from scratch because im the only one with it that I know of. So, no base maps or anything. That will be the first thing is to get a base map so when future Map Ecu owners need it it will be ready. Ill keep everyone updated on my install. also this is a PNP system. Which makes the install easy. here is the link i found it on http://www.tdp-power.com/Evo%20Engin...MAP%20ECU.html and also from the main website www.mapecu.com. well Ill be happy to bring a new option for an ems for the community.

I'm really looking forward to the results myself, as I've had a map ecu sitting in the box now for 6 months, waiting for me to get an EVO! Now I got an evo 05 mr, so I'll probably be installing this soon.
Keep up the updates!

fastct9a: the tuning has not yet been done at this moment. im waiting on a couple of things then the process will start. as of right now im running in learn mode. As for the dyno results. i need to get some new spark plugs since you brought that up..lol. I dynoed 250awhp/261awtq at 21psi. just the normal mods ie: rs intake, testpipe, exhaust, evc 5 and thats it. im not sure how that stacks up against others with the same mods but i was a little disappointed, of course iwas hoping for more. So, now i that the mapecu is on I'll get to see what is gained when i get it finished(tuned). after that ill see what 280's, valvesprings and retainers will do. just bare with me. im trying to get it all down for you guys so it will be much smoother.
Talon2evo: do you have a harness to make your mapecu pnp? if not shoot me an email and i can get you set up with one from my friend. im using it in my car and it made it so much easier than have to hard wire everything.
thanks for your intrest and ill do my best to keep everyone updated on the process.

Gott des Kriege: You have e-mails turned off, so I couldn't send one, but Yes, I'd be interested in the harness. Tell more about it on here, in case other's might be interested in getting a Mapecu & harness themselves...
I've got HKS 264/272 intake & exhaust, Revolver valve springs, 3" TBE, larger front mount. Don't have intercooler pipes, yet, & I plan on getting a 20G-9 from buschur racing, along with larger injectors.. probably something in the 650cc range... So, I'll probably have the ECU flashed, to get it really close, & use the map ecu to fine tune, & get rid of the MAF. Plus then I can have the woosh back! haha.

email fixed, sorry. Well the harness of course makes the install a whole lot times easier. It took me about id say 15-20 miniutes tops to finsh the whole ordeal. The point were im at right now is the long waiting period of getting the learn mode done. ill be driving it on that for a couple of weeks and then ill start tuning the little thing up. Like Malibu said earlier the one problem the evos have is the fuel/boost cut but since your getting a flash get that eliminated and you wont have to worry about a thing. ill stay in touch with you guys as soon a si get everything going past the waiting of the learn mode. one week down and one week left. i probably doesnt take that long but its a daily driver so i have to work on it when time allows and the wife isnt out having to much fun in it with her friends.

Thx for respond.. You get the power of the afc included with the vpc that is pretty good they use to work great on dsms back in the day vpc that is..
