MAFTPro for your ECU map switching needs.

Somewhere in the introduction of MAFTPro to the Evo forum the term MAFTPRO became synonomous with SPEED-DENSITY where one removes the mass air sensor and just runs an intake pipe to a filter instead.

I haven't posted in this forum in a while as we put some work into the MR, changed some things around and chased down a few gremlins. In the process one of the things we did was swap back from speed density to WITH MAF. Naturally we had to retune the car for another hour, but then we made a few more changes, swapped out HKS 280's for GSC 280's and retuned again.

With MAF has been a little smoother naturally as the precisely metered air and fueling is more consistant than a synthetic MAF signal such as offered by speed density. MAP switching from 21psi and 93 with standard ignition timing to 30psi, 93+meth injection with advanced ignition timing with the flip of a switch works just as great as it did on the speed density mode.

Safeguards triggered by high EGT or LEAN AFR while on the 93+meth injection mode works exceptionally well as the instant the safeguard alarm goes off, boost is instantly cut to 20psi, fueling advanced to 11.5AFR and standard ignition timing is restored to pump gas safe state of tune.

The point of this thread is to give some insight as to how we have been using the MAFTPRO as of late, give some updates as to what other configurations the MAFTPRO can operate in (Speed Density or with MAF) and show users how convenient switching from one of two MAPs can be while stationary, on the fly or whenever. I want to put to bed the notion that MAFTPRO is solely for speed density use and describe how TRUE DUAL MAP SWITCHING can be accomplished with this piggyback FUEL + ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLLER.

The MAFTPRO can operate in Speed Density (NO MAF), SAFC mode, Pass through (no adjustments) and with a Translator Blow Through hotwire sensor (allowing pre turbo MAF and VTA). Each one of the configurations works very well.

MAFTPro is compatible with any ECU REFLASH also!

If anyone has any questions about the MAFTPro or its capabilities, how you use it or whatever, feel free to contact us via PM or AIM SN "TTPEngineering".

I remember reading somewhere that with your supporting mods on the stock turbo and just tuning with maftpro alone on speed density, you were able to extract an additional 20awhp to get to that magical 400awhp. But the question is, since you switched over to speed density, did you have to rewrite the entire boost and timing table? Sounds like alot of work.

No. We accomplished 405whp/445tq on flashed ECU, SAFC-II and TTP meth injection WITHOUT MAFTPro.

If your car is tuned before switching to maftpro, it is easy to go to speed density as the main objective is to get it back to the same tune again which will line up the simulated MAF HZ signal with what the real MAF signal used to be.
