ApexI SAFC POLL - Please Respond

Funny thing is I just had an AFCII installed today. I was trying to figure out how to use it and going through all the settings. It took a little bit, but I kinda get it now. I have a K&N filter on my car with a MAF adapter and I run 93 octane fuel. The AFCII was set up at the shop and my numbers are way lower than 19%!!!!! Holy cow. My highest is negative is 9% at 7000 rpm!!!!! Can I get more power by making it 15 %? I dont want to blow this thing up so if conservative is safe,I'll leave it alone

Its negative 9% and depending on variables that is a conservative tune. I wouldn't change anything unless you have some way of measuring the mixture (wideband o2) I've run my tune as high as -19% and with 21psi of boost, its too lean, with 19psi boost, its adequate, however richer is safer and it depends on your supporting mods and level of boost. its important to realize that the tune has to be done for the entire RPM Range that your adjusting and not just 1 point.. There appears to be a hump where the engine runs a little lean where it could use a little more fuel to prevent detonation under load. Also keep in mind that you may get part throttle stumbling or a little detonation at part throttle at some RPM ranges if you use an aggressive tune (Usually its the point in the Throttle position where the ECU switches from closed loop to open loop) and there are adjustments for that also.

ok here are my settings. from 1600- 4600 rpms it is at -2%.
5200 -3%
5800 -4%
6400 -8%
7000 -13%
7600 -13%
now i wrote down these setting shortly after i got the safcII installed and dyno tuned just in case i ever lost the settings. however, i just recently checked into what the hi and lo throttle setting were. i found that lo was set for 15% and hi for 35%. does this seem odd to anyone else cause it does to me...... with my avcr set to 1.5 bar i dyno'd at 261whp on dyno-comps dyno

I'm currently running Buschur's recommended tuning settings which I found were a little tame for my setup, I gained a bit going more aggressively but I cannot recommend the more aggressive settings unless you had access to data logging and wideband o2.
Mods are Hallman MBC, Buschur Air filter, S-AFC, 3" Bushur Turbo-back exhaust with 3" Catalytic converter. Thats basically it for hardware. With my more aggressive tune I've run low 12's without High RPM Launches. Let me point out that in stock form, my car ran a 12.93 which from what I've been told is unusually strong for a bone stock car.
What RPM are you guys finding your fuel cut kicking in? I've actually seen 7850 shifts without bouncing off any sort of limiter or cutoff however I normally shift at 6800rpm

I hear that about the ultimate shift point being at 6800, but sometimes racing a loud car I have seen a couple of shifts between 7500-7800 with no fuel cut. Reason I overrevved is I shift by listening to my motor, but couldn't hear it.
Does anyone know if the F-CON will work on the EVO 8???

And the F-Con probably would work, but its not a bolt-on and I don't know of anyone who's had it installed (It needs to be installed by an authorized dealer though) I also think that the tuning software isn't available to anyone except certified installers/tuners. In other words, its pointless if you want to be involved in your car's configuration.

Actually the map that BS posted a few posts up will work pretty well with a stock car.. However I'd recommend the lo-th point at 35-40% and the hi-th point at about 60% It will move the compensation to start later and max out later.. It will help drivability a bit, I suspect with throttle points as low as the earlier map that he experiences a bit of stumble under load when he's not at wide open throttle.. Plus I think that open loop is up around 40% throttle position (more like 35%) so anything below that the ECU will learn "out"
It would at least give you a good starting point.. Plus because your running stock boost (18.5/19psi with a taper to 16psi) you could in theory lean it out quite a bit more but you can't do it safely without a wideband O2...
The S-AFC alone with no other mods could net you as much as 30hp.. but It really shines when its tuned correctly and you have at least stable 19psi boost through redline.
I'm going to start toying with the lo adjustments shortly, to force a narrower sharper compensation curve possibly to improve part throttle (Open loop) performance which is one thing that NONE of the tuners have addressed with their settings on the s-AFC
