ApexI SAFC POLL - Please Respond
Most of use the new SAFC I or II on our EVO's to adjust fuel. We get quite a bit of questions regarding the settings used for the Hi Throttle. The percentage to be exact. We know some companys send the SAFC with paper settings to run.
Post your SAFC settings here so we can all compare notes, also post your mods you have under the settings.
Here are ours:
3800 - 4% 4200 -4% - 4800 - 8% 5200 -8% 5600 -10% -
6000 - 13% 6400 - 14% 7000 - 10 %
Mods - Downpipe, cat delete pipe, 3" catback, boost control (20PSI), flat panel filter, intercooler piping, ground kit, radiator, induction pipe.
Thanks

You may want to post/ask for the HI throttle and LO throttle % points as well. Ie., LO throttle is defined as 50% and HI throttle is defined as 65%, etc.

finally, I bet tons of people were waiting for a post like this. I'm not, because I'm using the Xede, but it pisses me off when no one wants to post Buschurs or anyone elses numbers..

the reason noone else posts is becuase everyone's car is different...we are in different parts of the country, so different heat, humidity, and most imprtantly, gas. Not to mention the fact that all Evo's are not necessarily created the same. Sure its the same car, so you would think the settings are the same, and often they are; though often they are not. I have not had a chance to check the Evo's yet, but on WRTX's we tune, it is comming to see a spread of around 5 degrees plus or minus as a base timing number for different cars, all using the stock ecu. This greatly affects how we can tune each car, which is when we sell an ecu/fuel management unit via mailorder, we encourage the customer to call us up and discuss what the car is doing at various points. The only real way to do this though, is via a datalogger. This was one of the main downfalls of the Unichip, and one of the reasons so many ended up replacing theirs with something else.
What Mark said is correct, hi and low throttle points are critical in determining what settings need to be.
Not saying its not a good idea to share the info, just don't rely on someone else's settings to be the gospel rule for you, as you may just find yourself stuck on the side of the road one day as a result. If you do have a piggyback like an AFC, AFCII, or E-Manage, a good datalogger is a very worthwhile investment, as it will allow you to directly see the results of the changes you make. This is epsically true on the Evo, since your fuel adjustments also affect your timing adjustments.

The fact that not all our cars are the same, a basic "map" would help some of the guys just looking for basic maps. In a way, isnt that what "reflash" does(approximates fuel figures on mods and etc).

You better post what octane fuel your running as well. Also with those settings, what kind of a/f ratio are you getting. Just because your (anyones) car runs with those numbers doesn't mean it's running well. Somebody will take these numbers as gospel and then get really pissed when their engine goes.
I'm all for sharing info, it just needs to be carefully and thoroughly explained. My $.02
BTW, what posessed you to upgrade the radiator of all things? Just wondering.

at about 315WHP...Need to get current dyno testing, but waiting till it cools as the 117 degree heat does not help. I am adding a large Intercooler, probably Pruven or PWR as those will do a ton!!!
Then look at Turbo Upgrade and better Fuel Management. So hopefully stop at about 350-400 WHP.
Thanks!
