i have a 03 evo 8 gsr and i have an hks evc boost controller yesterday i figured out i had a boost leak so i r &i bumper, intercooler, radiator everything i cleaned all the pipes and placed all back together tight and took it for a drive i had a boost leak of 5 pounds since i bought the car 2 months ago, now im boosting 20 pounds, WHAT A DIFFERENCE THOSE 5 POUNDS!!, lol, anyway so i drove to work today and all was good as i was leaving work i decided to bring the boost down to 18 lbs for daily driving and i jump on the highway with the a/c on and at w.o.t my digital gauge on my boost controller would read 18 but then beep and like kill the power alittle not like shut off but like as if it were hitting red line but i was only at 5000 or 5500 but when i turned the a/c off at w.o.t it seemed fine again. now when i first got this car it was boosting 15 lbs, now its at 20, due to the fix of my boost leak, my concern is i may have damaged something due to those excess 5 lbs then before, i have an exhaust, hks intake, 660 cc injectors, walboro 255 fuel pump, AEM ecu, and a hks turbo timer, im new to this type of car so i dont know much any help will be mostly appreciated, thank you.

 

One thing I can say is with those mods you can easily be achieving 23 PSI no problem. You've got a walbro and you can hit pretty high loads. I'm not sure what the problem is with you're mbc or air conditioning though.

 

just by reading your first sentence... 1 question to ask you....! why spend 800 bucks on a hks evc boost controller ? ? people are crazy, ECU boost plus the tune is 200, and it is 10 TIMES better then any OTHER MBS eletronics etc .... believe me, i;ve been in this game since day 1

 

thank you guys on replying on my post, i did not spend 800 dollars on that boost controller, the previous owner did, now do you recommend i take it out and if yes what do i go with, also i noticed today at 20 lbs in 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th gear it will only boost 15 lbs but in 5th gear at w.o.t it will go to 20 lbs and my boost controller will beep and the car deboosts itself with me still on the gas, i dont know much about these cars but ive been into the american muscle racing and this is my firast tuner car but my guess would be it needs a tune, also on the hks evc boost controller what the **** do i set the volume a and volume b knob too, i have no idea, any help will be much appreciated, as i will also be calling MGW today to see if they can help me out, thank you guys.

 

If I were you I would take it off and sell it on ebay, get a hallman manual boost controler and be done with it. Good luck.
