Wideband Question...

I am using a Zeitronix ZT2 wideband for logging and have run into some issues...

1) The wideband is working at idle moving around stoich

2) The problem is that no matter WHAT changes (I'm talking extremely rich) to the AFR Map, the wideband still reads lean in the high 12's.

3) In the logs of this stuff, we are having 0 knock, EGT's are spot on ~870c.

My tuner thinks that I may have a dying wideband sensor and/or leak before the sensor. I know that the Zeitronix has its own calibration method that does not involve a manual calibration.

My question is: If making changes to the AFR map does NOT change the AFR according to the wideband, does this reflect it going dead even if it's reading good at idle?

Cheers-
E

How many miles on the sensor? Any leaded gas run through it?

Where is it located?

Was it reading fine at one point and changing with changes to the fuel map?

Any parts changes?

Probably about 1.5K-2K miles on sensor

It is located in the Megan Downpipe right before the firewall

It was reading fine before about 2 weeks ago with changes

No parts changes since then...

Did you run the sensor unheated at all? (the unit disconnected from power)

That will kill a sensor pretty quick.

not at all...

It's hooked up to the data box... only use the serial cable when logging...

I got a new wideband sensor and still having the same problem.. I'm getting pissed off... Because I don't know if it's in the tune (doubtful as we're getting NO knock, and dumping fuel based on the high AFR's). or if it's this freaking wideband...

You cannot free air calibrate it I don't think.

I take it you checked over all your wiring again incase something came loose?

Also, is your IDC changing when making fuel map changes?

Any leaks around the sensor?

You can perform a quick full rich AFR test by squirting some butane from a cigarette lighter into the O2 sensor . The AFR should go full rich then gradually lean out as air reenters the O2 sensor.
If the test passes then start looking for exhaust leaks. A small pin hole or leaky gasket will introduce oxygen from free air into the exhaust.

Funny I have one and 2 friends so, we've never had this problem nor have I.

One friend put a clutch in the other day (this is a turbo mustang) and we went out to tune his AEM, well I was on the laptop and noticed it would stay the same all of a sudden driving around (12's-13's) not matter what, I then added a ton of fuel, it stayed the same a/f, I took a ton out till the point it ran funny and it stayed the same, we think his Alternator is about to give on him cause his lights and such are acting up also. Hes putting a new one in and we will see if that helps it.

I fixed it guys...

My tuner's fat fingers accidentally hit a higher Scaling number than intended. I also had an exhaust leak between the downpipe and the exhaust pipe from too thin of a gasket (which came with the Megan Downpipe). Swapping out the 3 inch gasket from my SR20 turbo car fixed it. You never would have known there was an exhaust leak unless you pulled the whole system off as it was leaking at the top. The entire heatshield was black sooted.

We are good to go!!!

Woot!!

Thanks for all your help and replies.
