Take the class - it's presented very logically and is very informative. Brush up on your basic math skills first (they will have a calculator for you - be sure to do all the math exercises). Nice integration with dyno testing nad tuning. Remember, 101 is a basic 1.5 day course.

We went last year, Dallas TX. The classroom knowledge was valuable. Practical example was lacking, as it's done on a low hp N/A civic and it's just a quick fuel / timing example - Not how to fully tune an engine. If your new to tuning or interested in getting started tuning it's a good class. If you've already been tuning for sometime and understand the basics you might consider a more advanced class with more dyno / practical training. For the price it's pretty good, but the class almost mirrors the EMS Tuning 101 chapter of Jeff Hartman's book "How to tune and modify Engine Management Systems".
Overall I give it a thumbs up. It covers basic info, terminology, and math every tuner should have a complete understanding of.

I was tunning cars before the class. They break it down alot so you'll understand what happens when you plug in the numbers.
You'll get the basics. even in the advance you wont get to "tune a car". All the seat time you'll get in the ACP class.
After you go to the class, go to the tuning threads in here. You'll have a or two. Specialy with the "give her timing untill she knocks" tuning theory and fuel makes all your power......
Good luck

Hmm, that's interesting cause a lot of tuners do that, MTBT (minimum timing for best torque). Increase timing until no power is gained or until consistent knock becomes present.
