I could buy cams, springs, injectors, ect...

I cant see how the aem would make more power then the stock ecu if they are both speed density...

I've got ECUflash and EvoScan and it wayyy cheaper to setup everything.
Read this post.
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...-tune-evo.html

The only draw back on ECUflash is that it can't change on the fly like the AEM can.
I know a guy that has a GT35R and on E85 and still using a stock ecu.
I went this way cuz I wanted to save money and I'm not trying to get 500hp+, but it is very possible with the stock ecu.

There are many tuners now that are very knowledgeable with ECUflash.

Stock ECU starts and drives like stock. If your tuner has any amount of experience its not hard to make power on a stock ECU. I have made 641/537 on pump with a 3586 and SD.

im on a 30r with about 500hp on the stock ecu. Save your money and use it for other mods first. If your looking to make a drag car or track car get the aem . But the stock ecu is fine. Just my 2 cents!

Thanks for the links! This forum is kinda difficult to navigate, it has so many sub forums.

I got ecuFLASH and evoSCAN and I started watching the training vid someone on here made. I need to get a cable, and sell this AEM I'm thinking.

Well I plan on becoming my own tuner. I got a steep learning curve with ecuFLASH, but I think I can handle it.

That's some awesome power you got there!

Yeah I would go ahead and sell it.
The longest part is getting the softwear setup with the cables.
But after that you'll be glad you saved your money.

You'll need to do a lot of reading in the ECUflash forum to get you an idea of how everything works before you start changing things on your ecu. GL

I already have a AEM not installed. I think I should sell it and get some kelfords, springs, 1000cc injectors and figure out a tune on E85.

hmmm what kind of numbers do you want to put down? im on e85 with 1200's and a double pumper. depending on what your goal is you might wanna go with something a little higher than the 1000's just so you dont have to swap them again

I'd like to push the stock turbo and see if I can make close to 400whp. I know I need to go bigger if I want closer to 500whp on E85. I'm lucky I have allot of E85 stations near me.

I built the car in this thread....

In my opinion, with all the software available for the stock ECUs, you have the best of both worlds when you also have the standalone.

Flash your stock ECU to run your injectors, and not throw any codes. Put a plug and play Standalone in the car (like an AEM, or even better yet a Haltech) and use that for 364 days out of the year.

Standalone ECUs provide you with the ability to datalog almost anything you can imagine. Individual fuel and ignition trims per cylinder, closed loop boost control, additional inputs (like Wideband, EGTs per cylinder, multiple fuel and ignition maps, etc, etc, etc), rock some LSx coils, ditch wasted spark ignition, etc, etc.

There's a reason why serious race cars use standalones, and not hacked stock computers.

Collect data and make good decisions based on the data: go faster.

Yes, stock ECUs will provide fuel and ignition tables that are cable of 700hp, if thats all you want, then a stock ECU might work.

I don't have state inspections, and I'm not going for crazy horsepower. This is my daily driver and I'd be plenty happy with low 11's. Car has already gone 11.9
