aem ems or stock ecu?

I was told by a tuner that the aem ems is "overrated" and I "don't need it." I will be running a RnR gt35r with either e85 or meth, and the 2.1 what do you guys think? I already have the aem ems but his point of view was it was too expensive to tune and he suggested to sell it and use the money for other mods thanks for the info

I have the same question. I have a AEM and a tial bov, I want to go speed density.
But lately it seems that people are having allot of success with the stock ecu and sd.

I could prob get 1250 or so for the AEM and the sensors...

Whats everyone think?

thanks!

Would you recommend going speed density?

Im not sure how many Stock ECU's are in the nines now but I know there are a lot of them with AEM. Its a never ending battle but I like the AEM over the stock ECU still.

If you already have aem ems, there is no point in switching back to the stock computer. No gains to be had there imo. I guess the same can be said if you have the stock computer and you have someone that really knows how to use all of Tephra's mods.

I have the AEM but it's not installed. It seems like there are more resources for running the stock ecu. imo.

The real gains would be the parts I can buy with the money from the AEM...

If your state has OBD2 state inspections like here in NC

it will be easier to just keep your factory computer. AEM will not pass State Inspections.

I'm in Michigan, we don't have any inspections or emissions tests.

I would recommand follow your tuner's recommandation. Whatever he is comfortable to tune the vehicle, that will be best choice if you not a selftuner.
