help weird overheating issue

ok so about a week ago one of the coolant lines going to my throttle body cracked and began leaking a little bit, i found out from driving and my car got hot, it didnt max out was a bout 3/4 way to h, found the leak fixed it added about 2-3 pints of coolant but the overheating has never gone away.
the weird thing is it only overheats when driving, as soon as i come to a stop it cools back down.. if im going down the road and it gets hot i have to put it in nuetrual for a minute so it can cool, but as i said earlier it never maxs out just near 3/4 sometimes a bit higher

you have air in the system....open the radiator cap and fill it. Then squeeze the upper radiator hose several times to force out the bubbles. Do this over and over again until you can't get any more bubbles. Drive and repeat.

the "burping" idea is a good one.

if the problem continues, can you tell us if overheating usually happens on stop & go driving or does it occur when you are at speed (steady state) on the the highway?

in the mean time be sure your radiator fan is kicking in. if not then this is a big part of your probem. it would not hurt to install a lower temp thermostat.

fixed

so i did the burping thing but that didnt work at all. so today i drained all my coolant and refilled it, let it idle for about ten minutes and drove back home about 25miles with not a single issue....

it only occurred when at speed and especially on the hwy when i could not stop at a light to let it cool

great! as initially suspected you had an air gap in your coolant system.

i think thats why ur suppose to turn on ur heater after poring in the new collant for few mins so the fluids can circulate thru the core as well, then top it off.
glad u got it fixed man!
