apex-i avc-r settings?

apex-i avc-r settings?

my boost in 1 and 2nd is really "jumpy" bounces back and forth?

in 3-4 it seems fine?

OK


evo 8 installed works fine... cant seem to get the settings right?

bst - 1.6
dty - 61%

f/b speed-
1 2 3 4 5
5 4 3 2 2

learn gear-

start duty
1 - 15%
2 - 10%
3 - 5%

any advice?

Your FB is too high...lower it to 3s across the board. You need to go into the duty cycle and set it correctly before messing with anything else.

I recommend setting the learn gear to all X. Decrease the start duty to 0 for all. Then go boost in 3rd gear and get the duty set to get your desired boost level. Once you get 3rd set, go boost in 2nd and only adjust the start duty to get your desired boost level. Repeat for 1st....adjusting only the start duty. And of course the same thing for 4th and 5th.

Once you are hitting your desired boost level in every gear, then go to the FB speed and adjust it slightly to make the solenoid react faster or slower. Higher vlaue makes the solenoid react faster.

Don't mess with the gear learn feature until you set the gear settings. You have to drive in each gear at like 3000-3500 rpm and set each gear individually. Then you can turn on the gear based feature.

cool ill start that...
another thing i noticed...

my rpms read like 210 at idle... i hooked that wire to the injector 1 pin... should it have been to the rpm tach signal pin instead? cause as of right now its only reading the prm's for 1 cylinder (210x4=840rpm for idle which is were mine sits)

should i go back and change it?


then when i go to the fb high values should eliminate the spikes correct?

where should i start as far as boost/duty setting go?

Go on the Apexi web site and download the user manual. You have to make sure everything is set up properly before you start tweeking.

I use 90% duty for 2000, 2500, 3000
Then....3500 = 75%
Then 4000 to 8000 is 68%

This makes me (on e85 and tons of mods) Spool from 3000 to 3900 = 0 to 30psi, by 4100 rpm I am at 33psi. It then tapers to 27psi at 5500 and holds 27 to my 7800 redline.

I have the learn gears all to = X (off)

I have start duty for 1st gear at 7%, 2nd gear at 5%, 3rd gear at 0%, 4th at -3% and 5th at -5%.

so boost 1.45 and duty at 51% is ok?(mild mods and 91 oct) then adjust start duty %'s to reach target boost w/o spike

you are all over it.

You will know you are on the right path once the duty and desired boost show up as ***. This will happen if you are in the ball park of your desired boost level.

here's my way of doing it :
1) select target boost to what you want for example : 1,45b everywhere
then a base duty everywhere too like : 55%

2)
F/B speed

Start duty
1=0%
2=0%
3=0%
4=0%
5=0%
Learn Gear
1 2 3 4 5

3) select 3 things to be shown on-screen rpms-soleno-boost and do a movie of what your avc-r is doing while you are accelerating, do a run from 2000 to 7500 in 4th gear ,why 4th gear because it's closer to a 1:1 ratio and that's what will give you the best "base" for the other gears..that's what i was told anyway.

4) download the video on a computer, watch it in slow motion or stop/start the video and write on an excel sheet what duty it's using at your set NE-points and the resulting boost, then decide if you need to increase or lower by a few points the duty at your ne-points, and go set the "correct" duty on your avc-r

this whole recording and writing reduces the learning process by a lot, the learn feature is slow and doesn't work very welll, it has a really hard time to change the programmed duties unless you are alredy close to it

Using more f/b speed in 1st and 2nd is to reduce the spikes, but it will definitely makes the boost unstable on those gears, you can't have both so you'll ahve to decide what's best for you.
f/b speed and start duty are highly dependant of your wastegate actuator and wastegate, people with "stiff" actuators will have bigger spikes and a harder time to stabilize boost so you'll have to choose your own settings, video can also be very useful there you could do a video with learn deactivated, 1 or 2 f/b speed see what it's doing and then do another video with 5-7 f/b speed.

edit : deactivate all learn gears when you have something close to the boost you want, learn can slow down the spool and mess up your precious settings.
